A four week Talk for Writing unit based on the model text: The Manor House. Children will learn the model text during the imitation phase as well as study the text structure and features. They will work towards writing their own version of the story with a different setting. Week 3 includes an innovation week based on an abandoned school and the final independent writing based on a cabin in the woods.
Short burst writing tasks based around using features that create tension and suspense!
Comes with 4 weeks of Power Points, a model text and a copy of the box up grid I have used throughout the unit- all are easily editable to suit the needs of your class and many of the slides are useful for screen shotting and printing for use in books. Each day also has a SPaG starter question
For the innovation stage there are small chunks of the model text that are highlighted with areas for the children to consider changing. This can be modeled or edited in a way to suit your teaching style.
Please note that the model text is not included as I do not own that resource but it is readily available on many online platforms when searching for T4W resources.

Children will learn the model text and work towards writing their own version of the story where a jungle ranger gets his lunch stolen by a cheeky jungle animal of their choice. Lots of short burst tasks based around adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions and correct use of speech etc…

A 4 week Talk for Writing unit based around a model text about the curse of Tutankhamun . The children study the model text which is a modern day version based on the historical idea that those who discovered the tomb were then cursed. It comes with a model text and four Power Point presentations. Each lesson will have an oral or SPaG starter and a short burst writing task.
Children will then change the story to innovate with new ideas for a cursed object and finally complete an independent write.
They can be easily edited and adapted to suit your needs but they make for an excellent time saving base!

Children will learn the text and work towards writing their own version of the story where their character climbs the beanstalk to defeat a monster of their choosing. Lots of short burst tasks based around adjectives.

A 3 week Talk for Writing unit based around the topic of a young coal miner called Lotte. The children study the model text and there are also links to the book ‘Town is by the Sea’ which i would suggest purchasing to accompany the unit. It comes with a model text and several other models and three Power Point presentations. Each lesson will have an oral or SPaG starter and a short burst writing task. They can be easily edited and adapted to suit your needs.
Planning, presentation and printables for a week studying Mulan as a whole class reader. My weekly reading lessons follow the same format:
Session 1: Vocabualry
Session 2: Close read (inferences made from sections of the text)
Session 3: Non ficiton research or a comparrison
Session 4: Comprehension (we use APE)
Session 5: Test strategies
A three week Talk for Writing unit based on the model text: The Snoozatron by Wallace and Gromit’s ‘Cracking Contraptions’. Children will learn the model text during the imitation phase as well as study the text structure and features. They will work towards writing their own explanation using a different invention video. Week 2 includes an innovation week based on the book Until I Met Dudley, giving children another good example of an explanation to manipulate.
One lesson in Wk1 recaps the use of prepositions.
