I designed this lesson for my year 10 class with the objective of improving their vocabulary and sentence structure. The lesson focuses on article writing and how to use connectives in their work. I have also attached the sheet of advanced vocabulary choices.

Both sheets explore key character quotations from the novel. The 'Micro Quote' sheet can be used to trigger memory of longer quotations or can be used to suitably integrate quotations when analysing the rest of the novel. This lesson was used to teach the features of diary writing whilst still incorporating language skills from the new GCSE specification.

Full lesson. Revision on the full play of An Inspector Calls. Used with new specification and I also used an extract from the play for later analysis (the slides are also included here). The rules are as follows: - Give each team a copy of the board and a copy of each slide. - The students roll two dice and use a number on each to move across and upward until they land on a square. - Discuss as a team and try to reach a valid conclusion. - I also had my students making notes as they played.

Introduction to Language and Gender looking at marking and pronouns.

Lessons based around part one of the novel Of Mice and Men used with a year 9 class. Focuses on context, predictions, setting and the relationship between George and Lennie.

This lesson was used for a high ability year 9 class who are learning how to analyse an extract in the style of the new GCSE exam. I have attached a model response along with a differentiated extract for analysis.
