A series of lessons that look at the treatment of Ariel and how he/she would feel after the treatment from Prospero. The visual PPT is fully planned with engaging starters and development activities. These lessons are used before leading on to a comparison of how Ariel and Prospero converse with one another. A good lesson for high ability KS3 learners who are looking at GCSE skills/AOs studying the text or can be used as an extract for AQA paper 1 (you would need to remove the section regarding the wider novel if you were to use it this way).

I created this lesson for my year 8 class and they used the text to analyse their own thoughts and feelings for Frankenstein's creation. They then used the evidence they had collected this lesson to form a debate the lesson after.

This lesson was used for a high ability year 9 class who are learning how to analyse an extract in the style of the new GCSE exam. I have attached a model response along with a differentiated extract for analysis.

The lesson has clear AOs that link to the new 2017 GCSE in order to focus and challenge students. This resource pack includes a full lesson(s) on how to analyse a key extract. This skill is now applicable for the new specification GCSE so it is important that KS3 learners are embedding this learning early on. I have found that this lesson worked well with a year 9 class, so it can be used for high ability KS3 learners. However, I have also found it could work as part of Paper 1A as a practice extract.

This lesson explores the shared sonnet and asks students to analyse the language used. Links to the WJEC reading paper are also made.
