There are two differentiated sheets, one which gets your students to think about what they might include in their potion, the other that expands on this, getting them to think about the purpose of the potion.

This is a great activity around Halloween, if you’re looking at living things, or just as a fun team building / problem solving outdoor activity. Your students will hunt out and take a close look at a spider’s web before working as a team to create their own human web using string or wool.
First, get your class to find a spider’s web (ideally with a magnifying glass) and draw a picture of it on the sheet, looking carefully at the small details. Once they have completed the sheet, give each group (of 3 or 4) some string / rope and scissors and ask them to go find two trees or posts that are close to each other. They will use the trees / posts to create their human webs, thinking carefully about the design of the spider’s web they looked at.
Once they have finished they can draw their web or take a picture and stick it on the sheet.
It can be useful to give your class a lesson on simple knots before doing this activity.
Equipment:
2 x human web sheets
Magnifying glasses
String / rope
Scissors
Camera (optional)

This activity gets your class thinking carefully about adjectives and things that they could describe by placing the cards next to items they can find outside that match the adjective. For example, they might place ‘big’ next to a big tree. As an extension, they could then go on to use the card and the item they have found to write a sentence containing the adjective.
This activity is differentiated by the support given and the amount of input before the lesson. It may help to put your students in mixed ability groups, or for small groups to complete the activity with an adult.

Start your math lessons outdoors with this FREE fun activity where your class will get into groups following different criteria, for example getting into even numbered groups.
This activity works well if you get the students running around until they hear a whistle (or similar), they must then stop and wait for the instructions before getting into the correctly sized groups. Students who are left out must then check all of the groups to see if they are correct.

This is a game where students will have to figure out where their classmate was standing by using the compass bearings / degrees and what they have said they could see. It’s a great way to learn about compass directions and degrees while exploring the outdoors and enjoying nature. First, students choose a place in the school / outdoor grounds and record on their sheet what they can see at each given compass bearing. They then swap sheets with a classmate and head off to try and figure out where they were stood by using the information in the table.
This resource contains two sets of differentiated sheets:

Take Thanksgiving into the outdoors with this reflective activity where your class will look at which natural things they are most thankful for. They will walk around the outdoor space, taking time to think about which things they are most thankful for and why. This activity works best when the students are working individually as it allows them to think about their own personal thoughts and feelings.
It’s a great way for your students to gain a greater appreciation for the environment around them. This activity can lead onto nice discussions about how to care for the environment, thinking about what they can do locally to help.
