BTEC IT Level 3 NQF - Unit 6: Website Development - Learning Aim A - Principles of Design
This resource contains 49 slides which prepare students for the first assignment brief for Unit 6: Website Development. It is vital that your students have access to the official BTEC book by Pearson otherwise this resource cannot be used. I would suggest purchasing the active book which is cheaper and online. I would expect this resource to take 2 months to deliver properly. The slides contain multiple activities including group work, discussion and presentation. The resource asks students to create a google site to take notes, however any web builder will do. The resource also encourages use of the gSuite apps such as google slides and google docs so that they can be integrated within the google site.

KS3 Computer Science and ICT Standards Towers
If like me you feel that the new computer science national curriculum needs a bit more of a common sense approach, have a look at the standards towers that we now use across our curriculum. These dovetail into the new 9-1 KS4 Qualifications and provide a joined up thinking approach to the new changes.
These pupil friendly targets help students to know what they need to do in order to reach the next grade. These have been printed out as large displays within all of our classrooms and laminated. These also fit in nicely with report statements which can be purchased separately and link to the standards.

Kodu - Classic Arcade Games - Unit of Work
Check out the video at: https://youtu.be/Q2fkwnHh6-w
This unit of work for Kodu is a brilliant introduction to programming using a graphical user interface. Students learn how to program classic arcade games such as pac man and space invaders. Put your BBC Microbits to use and get students using them as a game pads in order to create a 'Kodu of Duty' game! The pre-built worlds which include student versions and teacher exemplars are an excellent way for you to get your students to dive straight into the coding. We all know how long students can spend on making their worlds so this is a great way to get straight to the things that matter!
Tried and tested this year (2017) with over 500 students, this unit was a big hit and really helped increase our numbers at KS4.
