This is a short powerpoint guiding students through extended reading responses in English, showing them the core ingredients of good introductions and conlusions, whilst also providing modelled examples of effective and ineffective essay style.
This is useful in the run up to mock or final examinations, as students often don't know how to start or end their essays in the most effective way.
The examples provided relate to Shakespeare's Macbeth, but the activities could relate to any of the set texts they are likely to encounter in GCSE English literature.

Hello! Here I have a workbook for devising a piece of drama from a stimulus. This would be ideal as both a 'dry run' for the OCR GCSE new specification 'devising drama' unit, or for a standalone unit at key stage 3.
In the booklet, students will:
- Respond to a stimulus image
- Come up with a range of concepts in relation to the image
- Storyboard their main idea
- Create character profiles for major characters
- Write a portion of a script for the performance
- Evaluating rehearsals

A collection of detailed and visually appealing posters exploring the context of An Inspector Calls in relation to when the play was set. These are great to have as a classroom display in your room. Similarly, these can be used as part of a marketplace activity whereby students learn about various contextual factors during a lesson.
Rather than focus on specific contextual facts, I’ve broken context down into key themes, that way students can make more effective links between social/historical context and the play itself.

There are lost of acronyms out there when responding to a text. PEEZL is an ideal middle ground between the more simple PEE model and some of the ridiculously complicated ones that seem to be around these days!
Each part of PEEZL is broken down with a pupil-friendly definition alongside two worked examples.
