This is a series of resources that I put together to form an English Curriculum in response to the 2014 Curriculum. It encourages dedicating a week of Reading, GPS then Writing. Through completing a week of Reading and GPS you are able to gather a wealth of knowledge and resources that will all apply to the final writing completed at the end of week 3. This has proven results for all abilities.

2 Week unit of work for The Highwayman Designed for Year 6 but can be adapted Covers Speaking and Listening Included is a Speaking and Listening Record Sheet which I put together for the Local Authority and is very simple and not time consuming (It is applicable to all year groups) - this I always stuck into pupil books as a great way of showing a lesson with drama or speaking and listening objectives.

Mastery Challenges for English Lessons

These are designed to be given as the highest level of differentiation for your More Able/G&T pupils in English lessons. The concept is that they are given the chance to pick out a card as a luck dip and it reflects how they have to approach the challenge/activity. For example whilst others are answering comprehension questions the more able are given the task of rewriting the scene from another point of view etc. The cards are very self explanatory. I have included an editable version to allow freedom to adapt for your own pupils. These have worked really well in my class and are a great carrot and stick activity for those who don't always challenge themselves.
