This is a set of flashcards created for the bioenergetics unit for AQA Biology. The flashcards are double-sided (flip on long edge), so the answer is on the reverse of each card, and are colour-coded with blue cards being the easiest, green mid-difficulty and red the most challenging. With my lowest ability groups I ask them to learn the blue cards as a minimum. My higher ability groups learn the blue cards first, then the green and red cards.

This is the Pure substances and mixtures lesson of the AQA Activate scheme of work for year 7. Included is a powerpoint presentation, starter activity and cat and stick activity. There is a simple practical in this lesson - I have included the Activate sheets for your convenience, but these are not part of my resources. The lesson can easily be delivered by a non-specialist as all of the posed questions are answered on the slides. There is a ‘literacy support sheet’ for SEN students or those who struggle with writing.

This is the ‘Inside Particles’ lesson in the AQA Activate, Matter unit This is designed to be easily followed / delivered by non-specialists as the answers are all included. You will need Molymods available for this activity - but if you have non available you could improvise with plasticine balls and cocktail sticks. There is a literacy support sheet included for SEN students and students with weak handwriting. I have attached the periodic table I used in the lesson, but this is not my own and as such is not included in the sale. It is the generic GCSE periodic table included in most textbooks. You can of course use whichever version your school uses.

This was an additional lesson in our scheme of work for the cells and movement unit. A small group of year 7 students completed this activity to consolidate their work on cells as they struggle to complete writing activities. This is a more ‘hands on’ way of learning the material so is most suitable for lower ability students and SEN. Not really an activity for high ability. Could be a fun activity for a science club. Need petri dishes and plasticine in a variety of colours.
