Outstanding Science in a box

Average Rating4.49
(based on 34 reviews)

I specialise in general science resources for KS3 and KS4 and biology for KS5. I try to make my resources suitable for non-specialists and teachers new to the subject, by including answers to any questions and full step-by-step explanations. I love flashcards and try to make a set for each unit I deliver. I am in the process of upgrading these to colour coded (differentiated) sets. All newly added resources will have a remote-learning version too (just in case :-))

32 Flashcards for the AQA Activate KS3 science unit 1 (new book) Forces: Speed and Gravity Print double sided (flip on long edge) so each card has the question on the front and the answer on the back. There are two blank sheets at the end so students can make extra cards if they wish (you may not want to print these, but I’ve included them in case you want to add extra questions) Based heavily on the NEW Activate 1 book 2016 edition

This is a Powerpoint that covers all of chapter B1 of the AQA Biology text book in one revision session. Can be used for pre paper 1 biology revision or for an end of chapter test for younger students. It’s a whistle-stop tour of the main points from this chapter. Students write down the parts they are unsure of only There is no content in this chapter than is separate science only, so this is suitable for both combined science and separate science.

This flashcards have been made using the AQA biology text book as source material. 78 of the questions are both combined and separate science 24 of the questions are separate science only (and are labelled as such) Print double sided (flip long edge) to produce the correct answer on the back of the correct card. These took me a whole weekend to make so I hope they’re useful. (also available in a bundle)

AQA GCSE Biology Homeostasis introduction

No text books are needed for this session. This is a gentle introduction to homeostasis that I created for my lower ability year 10s. There are a few slides where they need to take notes (print off for some students) There is a 6 minute video (the lovely amoeba sisters) overview of homeostasis. I have included a question sheet (answers in powerpoint) so students are answering questions as they watch. A short exam question at the end to test understanding - then a quick plenary question session to check recall of the main points. The exam question is basic - you may want to replace this for a higher ability class.

I have created sets of flashcards which cover most of the AQA Biology content . Print double sided (flip on long edge) so that answers appear on the back On the homeostasis pack and ecology pack I have highlighted the separate science content, so you can take these out of the packs you give to combined students, as these units are separate science heavy. I have also colour coded the individual packs, so students can learn the easier content first (blue questions), then learn the mid-difficulty questions (green) then the most difficult content (red). You may want to target only the blue and green questions at your foundation students.

Please note the preview shows cards with words carried over from one line to another - they do not look like this, I’m not sure why the preview has squeezed the file! I have created these homeostasis flashcards to help my GCSE biology students to revise for their Biology exams. This set covers homeostasis. Print double sided (flip on long edge) so that the answers are on the back of the card. In this set I have identified which cards are separate science only, so that I don’t give these to my combined science students. It took my eight hours to make these so I hope you find them useful. I have other sets available, but this is the first set that I have highlighted the separate science content. I hope you find it useful - please leave feedback if you have time.

This is a series of two lessons for British Science Week. The first is a theory lesson which looks into the environmental problems with plastic. There is a 7 minute video from Plastic Oceans - with a question sheet for students to listen for the answers as they’re watching. I’ve set this up with a workbook for students to complete, so it’s separate from their usual books. (please remove our school logo from the workbook and insert your own) There is an associated homework. Lesson 2 is a practical - Making plastic from milk In Powerpoint 2 I’ve mentioned a poster competition. If you’re downloading this after April 2018 you will want to delete this section as the competition will be closed.

This is a set of five Powerpoint presentations which covers 10 lessons. It breaks down the assessment criteria into manageable chunks with instructions on which parts to complete in each session. It should help to keep the students on-track, so no-one falls behind. The presentations should be printed off and given to the students (or emailed to them) so they can use them to guide their own study.

I was looking for some flashcards for GCSE Biology revision, and couldn’t find anything comprehensive - so I’m making my own. This set covers the first sub-chapter of the AQA Biology text book plus cell structure and transport and inheritance and variation. Please let me know if you find them useful - it might spur me on to get through the other chapters more quickly :-) They are designed to be printed double sided (flip on long edge), so just need to be cut out and they’re then ready to go. If you edit any of the questions, make sure the boxes still line up before you print them. Update - I will keep adding extra cards as I make them - so if you’ve bought this resource already - keep checking back to see if there are more cards you can download. Added 52 Bioenergetics cards 11th March Added 80 organisation cards 19th March
