A good opening to investigating science and CSI type projects, looks at the murders committed by burke and hare and has a sorting out worksheet for their story, once pupils have sorted the cards out you can remove some of them and get them to reproduce parts of the story to see what they have learnt there is also pictures of old medical instruments for them to guess how they were used and a section of pictures for them to make posters on the history of anatomy.

A lesson based around Science writing skills, pupils look at excerpts of writing to find the fiction, develop success criteria for good science writing and then try to produce their own piece- fully differentiated and full of kagan activities, also included are PDF factsheets for the pupils to develop their writing with

A 5-question starter with a picture of the fossil ADA currently held in Norway believed to be the missing link between apes and humans. A good starter to a lesson on evolution as it gets pupils thinking.

a mixture of resources on code breaking including a codebreaking timeline and some worksheets on cracking the genetic code the lesson for the genetic code could start with a picture of the x-ray diffraction pattern for DNA this could be snatched off the worksheet and pupils to guess what it shows.

a simple close exercise on classification makes a good homework

A powerpoint that could be used for environmental and land based science or for use with the living eggs project at Secondary school, it starts simply with the lifecyle of a chick and then goes on to look a little at ethics, so the differences between battery and free range and whether it's ok to kill and eat chickens, it will need some tweaking to make suitable for different classes it is pitched at quite a high level
