This PP and WAGOLL image I used for a lesson building up to Year 6 CHN writing a setting description of a magical world they invented. The week went like this: Monday- Brainstorm ideas for towns, cities and landscapes. Tuesday- Draw the map and name the areas. CHN were allowed to colour and add more decorations during their early morning activity for the rest of the week. Wednesday- Drama! Describe their land to a peer so they can draw it from the description. Note good vocabulary in word bank/ Thursday- Plan the setting description moving through the world they created Friday- Plan and final write of description.

Thursday- Writing a short description of the land the Monster came from to practice using Friday- Planning their own short story in the style of the Monster using a story mountain. WAGOLL written from this plan. WK 2 Monday- Drafting the beginning of their tale. Tuesday- Editing the draft Wednesday- Using direct and indirect speech- this is a skills gap for the CHN. Thursday and Friday- Writing their final pieces using their learning from the past two weeks. NOTE: Resources from the Monday and Tuesday aren’t included as they were made by another teacher. INA resources available upon request.

I like to have a monthly spread in my teacher diary (which our school diaries do not have) so I made this to print and stick on the first day of each month. I like to doodle patterns and colours on it each month too as I find it keeps me more engaged with keeping track.
