Shade in the 5 x tables
A quick and easy starter/ plenary activty to help students to practice and recognise their 5 x tables
Properties of 2D shapes
2 differentiated tables for students to fill in the properties of 2D shapes
-To complete number of sides and vertices
-To complete number of sides, vertices and lines of symmetry.
Year 1 Subject Vocabulary Cards
This resource contains vocabulary cards for the following national curriculum subjects for year 1:
Art
Geography
History
Maths
Science
All of the vocabulary the children will be exposed to and learning throughout the year are included, in line with the Primary National Curriculum.

A quick exercise for children to review and practice rounding to the nearest hundred (including word problems)
Rounding to the nearest 10

I can name and recognise 3d shapes
A full lesson including lesson PowerPoint and recording sheet to meet the objective ‘I can name and recognise common 3D shapes’ including: cube, cuboid, sphere, cone and cylinder.
This lesson discusses properties of 3D shapes, as well as where we might find the shapes in our own environment. The lesson then includes a practical activity which allows the children to find 3d shapes in their own environment, which they can then record on their sheet.
Months of the year colouring pages

Around the month, the child could write or draw what they associate with that month, e.g. in January, they may draw a picture of a snowflake. A fun and simple actiivty to help with learning the months of the year.
I can compare and classify 2D shapes
A complete lesson including lesson PowerPoint and worksheet to meet the objective: ‘I can compare and classify 2D shapes’.
Supports students understanding of 2D shapes- key vocabulary such as names of shapes, sides, vertices and lines of symmetry.
Shape symmetry
This activity will support children’s understanding of Line Symmetry. Children have to complete the missing half to complete the shape- making sure that it is symmetrical- the same on both sides.
Subtraction Square
Complete the subtraction square- supports children’s understanding of subtraction facts. Fluency practice.
0-20 Picture Matching Activity
Matching activity using the numbers 0-20.
Match te number card to the correct number of dots.
If printing multiple sets, I would recommend using a different colour paper for each set.
Addition to 10 and 20
Missing number problems, allowing children to practice their number bonds and number facts to 10 and 20
Addition Square
Complete the addition square- supports children’s understanding of addition facts using the numbers 1-10 and then 10-20. Once children have a solid understanding of adding numbers using 1- 10- the biggest sum here would be 10+10, they can then move onto adding numbers 1-20.
I can read and write numbers to 20
In the year 1 curriculum, by the end of the year, the children need to be able to read and write numbers to 20 in numerals and words. This resource allows children to practice tracing the numbers in words and numerals and then by themselves. It also supports their development of counting skills. The activity booklet could be used as morning work, or perhaps for early finishers.
Array Matching Cards
A simple activity to support children’s understanding of early multiplication with the use of pictorial representations- arrays. Match the array card to the repeated addition sentence and the multiplication sentence.
Name the Colour Activity
Expressive Arts and Design- match the name to the colour. A word bank is provided at the bottom of the page to support.
Find 1/2 of a shape
An activity to support children’s understanding of recognising a half in different ways. Shade in one half of each of the different shapes.
