A 35 page booklet to help prepare Spanish A Level students for Paper 3 (speaking test). The booklet focuses on the Theme 4 (Aspects of political life), and it contains 18 discussion cards covering “Jóvenes de hoy, ciudadanos de mañana” (6 cards), “Los movimientos populares” (6 cards) and “Monarquías y dictaduras” (6 cards). Each section is followed by a list of 20 questions to encourage the students to further explore the issues covered in the cards.
The cards contain (quite a lot) of factual information about the theme (a lot more than the sample cards from AQA) and three questions, the first one always being “How do you react to the information on this card?”).
The aim of presenting the cards like this is to provide the students with a lot of ideas on what to say about the theme, as well as making them more aware that they always have to discuss the information printed on the card (AO2 and AO4).
The booklet also includes a student-friendly overview of the new specification, an explanation of the requirements of Paper 3, the assessment objectives and the mark scheme for both part one (discussion if a sub-theme) and part two (presentation and discussion of the individual research project) of the paper.
Finally, the booklet also contain three pages of useful language for the test.
This double-sided mat provides the students of all abilities with a lot of useful language to support them when writing about the GCSE topic of Technology.
Page one contains a lot of vocabulary (nouns, adjectives, conjunctions, time phrases and intensifiers) as well as a series of scaffolding structures (“sentence starters”). The second page contains twelve key verbs conjugated in the first person singular (yo) in six different tenses (the preterite, the imperfect, the present, the future, the conditional and the present subjunctive). Finally, there is also a section on complex structures on the second page, with plenty of examples of comparatives and superlatives, conditional sentences (“si fuera…”) and negative sentences and structures with the infinitive (para+infinitive).
(Note - please ignore the preview of the Word file, there is an ongoing issue with Word previews in TES; the file looks like the PDF shows)

PLEASE NOTE: this resource is part of a much more comprehensive and more detailed resource, the Pan’s Labyrinth Student Support Guide that can be found on this link:

A series of reading activities about the Spanish Royal Family.
Based on a text about King Felipe’s 50th birthday, this resource includes four activities (find synonyms, true, false or not mentioned, translation and summary).
The resource also includes a “fact file” with key information about the evolution of the Royal Family since Franco’s death and two speaking cards based on this information.
This bundle includes four resources to support Spanish GCSE students prepare for their writing exam:
Vocabulary booklet: a booklet with a lot of key vocabulary for each theme and topic of the new GCSE course, as well as a summary of the key exam rubrics and useful expressions.
Grammar booklet: this resource includes in fact two different versions of the same booklet (one of them an abridged version of the other one) that provide a very detailed overview of the key aspects of the grammar covered in the GCSE course, with plenty of examples and activities for the students.
90-word and 150-word question booklets: these two resources (one of them a TES PICK resource) contain twenty four questions each that follow the format of the 90-word and the 150-word questions in the new Spanish GCSE writing exam. They cover all three themes of the AQA specification, but can be easily adapted to other exam boards. In each booklet there are eight questions for each theme, and they can be used in lessons, but also as an easy way to set useful homework activities for the students.
Complex structures guide, to encourage stronger candidates to work independently to include more ambitious structures in their written work.
This resource contains two separate booklets. The first one contains eight 90-word questions covering all topics of Theme 3 (Current and future study and employment) of the AQA Spanish GCSE specification (two questions for each of the four topics of Theme 3).
Based on the sample papers and the 2018 paper, all the questions include four bullet points; one bullet point refers to the future and one to the past.
The second booklet contains the same eight questions, followed by a table with 20 sentences. Sixteen of the sentences are direct answers to one of the bullet points (four sentences per bullet point); the remaining sentences, while useful, do not answer directly any of the bullet points and wouldn’t give the students much credit for content if used on their own.
The idea behind this activity is to encourage the students to read the bullet points carefully, taking into account the different time frames that they refer to and what they actually ask, thus stopping them from simply writing anything they can think of on each of the different topics without taking into account the requirements of the task.
The sentences can also be used as translation activities.
Themes 1 and 2 also available, and a booklet with all three themes can be found in this link:

This bundle consists of three resources to help the Spanish A Level students prepare for their speaking exam (paper 3).
The first resource is a Fact File, with a lot of factual information about the different themes and sub-themes (AQA specification).
The second resource consists of a booklet with 72 speaking cards, based on the information from the fact file.
Finally, the third resource is a game of trivial pursuit based on the content of the course. It includes 32 question cards with six questions each (a total of 192 questions).
This resource includes a lot of information about family life in Spain, followed by a series of questions for the students to show their understanding of the topics covered. The resource is written in English and it is meant to improve the students’ cultural awareness.
It is aimed at GCSE students, but it can also be used with A Level students as a quick introduction to the sub-theme Traditional and modern values.
Finally, it is ideal to set cover work.
This is a board game to get English as a Foreign Language to practise their speaking (and mediation) skills.
It is based on games such as Snakes and Ladders, but since I have designed the board, I have explained all the peculiarities in the instructions.
Each time the players roll the dice, they will have to complete a speaking, mediation (explain a graph) or grammar task. The different tasks are:
making a speech on a specific topic.
having a discussion with a partner on a specific topic.
answering a question.
taking part in a role play with a partner.
correcting a common mistake in a sentence.
If the player completes the task correctly they can stay in the box where they’ve landed. If they don’t, they’ll have to go back.
All the resources needed to play the game are included: 24 grammar cards, 24 discussion cards, 24 question cards, 12 role play cards and 12 graph cards.
There are a few special boxed to keep the game more exciting: the lift, that helps the players move forward or backwards a few places; the dice, which allows them to roll the dice again; the field, where they relax for a turn, and the grim reaper, which takes them back to the starting point.
The game is designed for B2 students, but can be easily adapted for other levels.
EDIT: PLEASE IGNORE THE AWFUL PREVIEWS, THE ACTUAL FILES LOOK FINE, AS SHOWN BY THE COVER PICTURE, A SCREEN CAPTURE OF THE BOARD.
A series of lessons to talk about food and drink in Spanish. It includes work on opinions, ER verbs in different tenses (present, preterite, imperfect, future and conditional), and exam-like activities (photo cards, translation), as well as reading activities based on authentic materials.
Update: I have now included a PowerPoint version of the main file, converted from the original Notebook file. I recommend whenever possible to use the original version, as the file conversion has changed the layout of some slides and some features work less effectively on Power Point.
Two lessons on the topic of technology, focusing on being able to express opinions about technology in different tenses and talking about what the students use technology for in different tenses.
The second lesson includes a series of GCSE exam-like activities, including photo cards, translation and 90 word question.
Finally, a writing mat has been added to this resource to support students of all abilities with their written work.
Update: I have now included a PowerPoint version of the main file, converted from the original Notebook file. I recommend whenever possible to use the original version, as the file conversion has changed the layout of some slides and some features work less effectively on Power Point.
A set of activities that I used with my Spanish year 7 groups to revise the topics of countries, local area, shapes and colours, geography and the weather, food and economy (as well as personal descriptions, clothes and a weather forecast). They completed the activities over several lessons, working in groups as a competition. They produced some outstanding displays.
