Psychology in Science - Role of Hormones

This is a lesson designed to be woven into GCSE Science to help students apply their learning and think more about how their learning works in other ways. This lesson is designed to slot in the homeostasis topic, probably after the menstrual cycle but before adrenaline and thyroxine. It is designed to help students to understand the area in more depth and apply science to their life. It also aims to give an appreciation of how varied science can be – it’s not all biology, chemistry and physics! This lesson can also be used as a taster session for Psychology or as an introduction to Psychology following the completion of GCSEs.

We can see these energy changes by looking at changes in temperature. We have a method here that will help you carry out an exothermic reaction.

This is a task sheet designed to last an entire lesson. I developed this for cover work but have also used this in a teacher led lesson. The sheet contains the key information for the lesson and a variety of tasks for the students to complete. The tasks follow a difficulty level ladder based on Blooms but adapted to the Science classroom: Recall (simplest) Understand Apply Analyse Evaluate Create (hardest) The lessons follow the Activate KS3 book scheme.
