In light of what has been going on in the world, I have been working on pulling together a PowerPoint looking at how the Black Lives Matter movement ties in with some of what we do in Psychology. There are four main sections to this presentation: accessibility of mental health services, schemas, bias in research and BAME Psychologists. Each section has information and tasks which can completed. This was aimed at my sixth form students studying A Level Psychology and was an optional resource for them to look through during lockdown.

This is a lesson designed to be woven into GCSE Science to help students apply their learning and think more about how their learning works in other ways. This lesson is designed to slot in the homeostasis or the inheritance, variation and evolution topics. It is designed to help students to understand the area in more depth and apply science to their life. It also aims to give an appreciation of how varied science can be – it’s not all biology, chemistry and physics! This lesson can also be used as a taster session for Psychology or as an introduction to Psychology following the completion of GCSEs.

This was used as the first lesson for a new psychology club run by the science department for KS4 students. Students draw on background knowledge to complete the section on whether psychology is a science and then use the internet or A level revision guides to complete the psychological approaches section.
