Suitable for KS3 and GCSE Maths. Fun and Interactive Team Game on Reverse Percentages with sound effects. Ask a question. Answer the question to Test Your Strength. If the answer is correct, the hammer blow will ring the bell. If not. It won’t! 16 questions in total. 8 per team. Split into two teams. Ask a question of Team 1, if they are right the bell on the test the strength machine will ring, if not it won’t. If not, ask the other team. Answers can be displayed. There are different ways to play the game it is up to you. I split class in two and nominated a team captain, the captain could only give the answer the team agreed on (led to discussion). Once answer given, went to home screen and clicked to test the strength. (make sure you know the answer) as you have to click an incorrect or correct icon to run the test your strength machine. If right great, if wrong went back to question screen and asked 2nd team, repeated process. Was fun and interactive, got students working, thinking and discussing

GCSE Maths/Functional Skills- Scatter Graphs-Opening Weekend Cinema Figures

(0)
Can you tell from its opening weekend how much the new movie Solo: A Star Wars Story can earn in cinemas? This activity can be used anytime and is especially timely when there is a new blockbuster movie released. You can add future movies to the activity. The data for this activity can be found at: boxofficemojo.com. Students compare “Opening Weekend” amounts to “Total Earned (Gross)” data to try to predict how much money the new Hans Solo movie (which earned almost $220,000,000 in its opening weekend in the U.S.) will make at cinemas. This task is accessible for any student who can plot points on a grid. More advanced students can create a line of best fit to model the data and make predictions. By plotting and analyzing the data students decide if they can, in fact, predict the future. At functional skills and GCSE Maths learners are expected to plot data and predict results, this activity helps do that in a fun and enjoyable way that will grab their attention. Instructions: Print off some money, I have included £5, £10 and £20 notes for printing. Arrange students in groups and give each group £100 Students bet between £5-20 on each topic (before seeing the question) I write the students team names on whiteboard and then get them to stick their money bets on the whiteboard with bluetac or to write up their bets Learners will double their money with a correct answer or lose it for a wrong answer.
