GCSE Maths/Functional Skills-Escape the Room-Simple Probability

Unlock the code to escape the room by answering simple probability questions. I use this with a set of combination locks I bought cheap in a poundshop. I set the locks to open on a set combination which can only be got by answering the questions. The quickest team to get the combination win. This activity generates great fun in class and is worth the investment in a set of cheap combi locks

Crossover Problem- Area of Rectangles and Compound Shapes

(0)
A one sheet activity that includes converting metric measures, calculating area of rectangles and compound shapes and working out how many tiles fit into a room and an extension question. The idea is that learners bring some of their maths skills from different math areas into answering a question. A bit like Functional Skills where learners have to apply their maths skills to answer a functional question. Bringing all the skills together to answer a question is difficult for functional maths students as they are used to just doing 1 maths step and using 1 maths skill at a time. This worksheet will build up those skills in steps. If you like it leave me a review.

GCSE Maths/Functional Skills- Currency Exchange Poster

(0)
A bureau exchange type poster showing exchange rates for different currencies from around the world. The poster is editable if you want to change the rates to reflect changes in currency or to make them more easier or difficult to work with, I have worked to 2 decimal places on this. The poster includes the sell rate and buy rate. I give learners real life questions based on the poster such as changing money to go on holiday and bringing some back and changing it back to sterling.
