Percentages of Amounts
This powerpoint teaches learners how to calculate simple and then more complex percentages of amounts. It contains finisher questions for both which can be used as a means of formative assessment.
It also contains a set of three questions sets which are differentiated by stars to challenge all learners.
Introduction to Algebra Powerpoint
This resource introduces learners to basic equations. It then progresses to solving equations which involve mulitplication of a variable e.g. 2x = 20 so x = 10.
It then progresses to solving two step equations by using the balancing strategy.
For each topic covered the Powerpoint has a few quick questions and links to games that can be played on an IWB with learners.
World Cup 2022 Qatar
This resource contains a variety of resources relating to the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The activities link to a range of curricular areas.
The activities included are:
Class sweepstake - This includes a link to randomiser so the countries can be randomly allocated to pupils.
Name the flag quiz
World Cup in numbers - estimation quiz
Design a football strip - relates to the country that pupils got from sweep stake. It also has printable template.
Who will win the world cup survey - Takes the pupils through the process of a survey. Pupils must collect info in a tally chart then create a graph of their choice to present their information.
County fact file - again this relates to their sweep stake country. The activity gives a modelled fact file.
World Cup debate - Should the World Cup have been held in Qatar. Pupils must gather evidence for both sides of the debate then argue one side of it during a class debate.
Converting 12 and 24 hour time
This resource works best with an interactive whiteboard that learners can write on. It can also be adapted for use on Seesaw or other online platforms.
This resource begins with a time conversions starter quiz on units of time.
It then begins by explaining the key differences between 12 and 24 hour time.
It then provides digital clocks for learners to practise converting between the two different formats.
It has ten practice questions for learners to try independently.
Finally, it progress to using analogue and digital clocks and writing times in both 12 and 24 hour format. This challenges learners and provides good assessment of which areas of time learners find challenging.
A template for these slides is available which can be printed for learners to write on directly either with pencil or work well with smart pals or wallets.
Properties of 2D Shapes
This powerpoint is split into two lessons.
Lesson 1 - focuses on the properties of quadrilaterals.
Lesson 2 - focuses on regular and irregular pentagons and hexagons
Decimal Thousandths Powerpoint
This resource revises the place value of a number up to decimal thousandths.
It then briefly covers partitioning/expanding of decimal numbers and ordering decimal numbers. It contains links to two games that can be played on an interactive whiteboard with learners.
Positive & Negative Integers Introduction Lesson
This lesson provides an introduction to positive and negative integers. It begins by explaining what an integer is and discussing different examples of how we use negative integers in real life.
It then has a few different examples and discussion points using real life examples which can be done as whole class, individuals or groups e.g. weather, money etc.
The resource then goes on to describe positive integers as hot numbers and negative integers as cold numbers. I find this really helps learners when performing calculations involving integers.
The resource also contains a simple tug of war game that can be printed and played in pairs or played on the board with volunteers. For the game, someone is positive and someone is negative, they roll a dice and they move that number of spaces on the number line. Negative player moves to the left and positive player to the right. The winner is the person who makes it to their end of the number line. This is just a very simple game that encourages the children to add positive or negative integers and helps them visualise it on a number line.
The resource then goes through different examples of adding and subtraction integers. It has a visual number line to support learners. When explaining this to learners, I use the terminology of hot and cold numbers and use the example of a drink e.g. adding hot numbers will increase the temperature, adding cold numbers will decrease it or subtracting hot numbers will decrease the temperature and subtracting cold numbers will increase the temperature.
Finally, there are 6 quick questions that learners can answer and this can be used as a means of formative assessment.
Equivalent Fractions
This resources aims to teach equivalent fractions using both pictorial and the multiply and dividing method. It works well on an interactive board as the learners can colour the fraction strips themselves. It also contains 12 questions at the end to assess the learners understanding
Simplifying Fractions
This resource breaks down simplifying fractions by firstly revising a key concept for learners which is factors and identifying the GCF. This skill is essential for them to understand how to simplify.
It then progresses to showing learners how to simplify by listing factors and identifying GCF. Finally it condenses it into just simpliying.
There is a short formative assessment activity differentiated across three levels. These have 8 questions each and learners can choose the level they wish to attempt.
This lesson can be broken down into multiple lessons.
Data Handling: Mean, Mode, Median & Range
This resources explains the four terms for learners and then has a few different scenarios of this data might be used in real life.
Bundle
Teaching Fractions
This bundle covers all of the key elements when it comes to teaching fractions.
Mixed Numbers & Improper Fractions
This resources takes learners through what a mixed number and improper fraction are. There are visual representations of these to support the learners.
There are lots of opportunities for learners to engage with the resource if used on an interactive whiteboard or the tasks can be completed on a show me board.
Order of Operations BODMAS
This resource explains the order of operations. It then provides examples for learners to try. It has a multiple choice quiz and then a set of differentiated questions for learners to try which can be used as a means of formative assessments.
Fractions, Decimals & Percentages
This resource demonstrates the connection between fractions, decimals and percentages.
Morning Daily Starter Slides & Tasks for February Pastel Themed
Daily morning Starters to engage learning first thing in the morning. The starters rotate on a weekly basis. It contains a range of engaging tasks, plus an editable To do list to support classroom management in the morning.
The colour scheme is pastel.
They cover a range of topics from:
Numeracy
Spelling
Grammar
Writing

Algebra - Solving one and two step equations
This resource covers one step and two step equations (with balancing). It includes lots of examples for learners to try before progressing on.
It also has 3 differentiated worksheets which provide consolidation and challenge for all learners.
Word Problems & Mathematical Language
