The resources I make and provide require the students to have good imaginations! I try to encourage teaching through the use of battles in fantasy environments or cold war spy related environments. Also students are expected to think outside the box with some of the problems which include cipher breaking or real life science problems. I Hope you enjoy the resources and please spread the good word!

This is one of the best resources I have ever designed! It follows the story of Dr Daniel Hayles and starts with an anonymous letter sent to your students…they come to lesson not knowing what is about to happen! On their desks is a simple box or envelope per group…they must use their problem solving skills to the fullest in this intriguing and absorbing task. They will look at forensic Physics, Linear Dynamics, code deciphering, IT and logical problem solving. The students are Dr Hayles’ best hope…can your students do it! Physics covered: Principle of Momentum and energy, ballistic pendula, speed and forensic drag factors and circular motion. Mathematics covered: Mechanics, formulae manipulation, bifid and Mexican Army Cipher Discs deciphering.

It is the time of the cold war… Your students work for an elite spy catching department called the Anti Espionage Department! They have been given a cryptic message about a table seating plan…a coded message in mechanics physics questions and a choice of two envelopes. They must decipher the coded message and answer the questions but there is a twist!

Hello! Here is an activity which could invigorate revision or work on the larger 6 mark exam questions used in A-level Physics. Physics Spy Interrogation is an activity which has students sort themselves into groups of 3 and act out as cold war spies and interrogators. The spy takes a card from a person in a specific area of physics and has to answer a series of in depth questions on that specific area. They switch and take turns and the winner has the most points. This will help students answer large mark questions to the fullest!

Within my terrifying world of Newtonia, Time Mages wonder the blasted plains searching each other out to battle! This is a game where two student flight each other and learn how to read analogue time as well! This game was designed for SEN Autistic students, but could be used for students who are mature enough but cannot read the time. You will need two dice and try to print the student player cards A3 so that it might make things easier to see.

Dear All, I have created a wonderful, if not terrifying world called Newtonia! Within Newtonia there are beasts and people of all different races who attempt to live in such a world of fantasy. This game is a resource which can be used in questioning and allows students to find their inner geek as well! Students are the gladiators, you (the teacher) are the Pit Master, the students fight each other through answering questions…but the Pit Master does have a few tricks up their sleeve! This is an interactive game and presently levelled for KS3 Science or Maths. The question packs have a selection on both subjects and cover several topics. You can of course, make your own cards to add further differentiation or variety. This game has also been used for SEN (autism), who enjoyed it very much!

This game is a cold war styled spy code cracking lesson or revision on differentiation. All methods covered in Advanced Mathematics is included. The students will need to solve a cipher to answer questions in the presentation. One file that was not supported was the old typewriter font used in the presentation as well as the documents, you can easily search for 1942.ttf as install if you want to. The students need to solve the differentiation contained in the cipher, then find the corresponding letter from a piece of Sherlock Holmes prose. Unfortunately I had all the files nicely contained in sub-folder to help you find you way around such as student files…teacher solutions etc., but I do not think that they will remain sorted like that! The files should be self explanatory.
