Secondary School - Food and Healthy Lifestyle Unit - Lesson 16 This resource is the sixteenth lesson of the unit “ la nourriture et la santé ”. In this lesson, students are investigating what makes a good French paragraph on the topic of “mes habitudes alimentaires”. Students will be given two key worksheets : one “organisateur d’idées” to sort out in a logical way all of the key information and words they want to use in their paragraph, and one “complex sentences checklist” to make sure they include all complex elements (such as opinions, justifications, someone else’s point of view, comparative and superlative structures, other tenses …) At the end, students have time to peer-assess their classmate’s paragraph using the checklist as well. In this lesson, students are identifying good and healthy living habits. Key vocabulary is first introduced with the key expressions “il faut” and “il ne faut pas”. Then students have a class worksheet to work on (3 different exercises), with the correction provided on the Powerpoint. The last task is both a reading comprehesion and writing production as students need to read 3 blog entries from teenagers asking for advice. Students need to come up with logical advices on how to have a better and healthier lifestyle. Secondary School - Food and Healthy Lifestyle Unit - Exams This resource contains two 2020-2021 new IB style exams for Niveau Débutant on the unit “ la nourriture et la santé ”. One “expression écrite” exam (Critère D), asking students to create a dialogue between a waiter and a family at a French restaurant (between 100 and 150 words). To add difficulty, members of this family have allergies or follow a specific diet. One “expression orale” exam (Critère C), with 3 stimuli on the topic “Food and Healthy Lifestyle” with prompt questions to guide students in their 1 minute presentation. I also included a list of 33 potential questions teachers could ask their students during the interactive discussion (2minutes). For both exams, the new IB Assessment Criteria for the Niveau Débutant have been included. Both exams also include a presentation page where students will have space to write their own feedback (at the end of the exam). A teacher’s feedback section is also include on this front page.
