Each double page spread of the booklet provides evidence for all of the “working at” (2S) Teacher Assessment Framework (TAF) statements. In total, there are 12 pages (6 questions per page) and an additional 7 pages of extensions and speed challenges.

A booklet designed to make practising for the year 1 phonics screening check a little more enjoyable.
Children are encouraged to add sound buttons to words in order to show that they recognise digraphs, split digraphs and trigraphs within words. They also have activities whereby they have to “chunk” words into their syllables in order to read.
The activities include words with both real and alien words.
This booklet can be used for both evidence gathering to support the year 2 Teacher assessment framework (TAF) statements and also SATS practise.
The booklet:
Each double page spread of the booklet includes 2 questions from the “working towards” statements, 9 questions from the “working at” statements and 1 question from the “greater depth” statements.
The booklet includes SATs style questions and can be used to practise the skill of switching between operations/ topics whilst similtaneously gathering evidence.
At the back of the booklet there are also extension tasks and speed challenges for those that finish their work early.
A teacher answer booklet is also included for ease/ speed of marking.

There are 6 weeks of slides included (assuming that one lesson per week will be set aside to recap all the taught areas and complete one double page of the booklet).
The slides cover elements from the booklet and all areas of the TAF, with example questions to discuss and solve together before they attempt some of the booklet themselves.

Children should say each word out loud, listen to where the given sound appears in the word, then circle the correct spelling rule for each picture.
E.g. in pray the /ei/ sound is at the end of the word to they ay spelling should be used.
