Head of Faculty for Music, Media and Expressive Arts in a Secondary School. I studied Music and French at University followed by Secondary Music PGCE and also spent a year teaching English to Bac and Brevet students in a French school. My resources are based on the new national curriculum and primarily for KS3 students, as I have been developing new curricula and activities for these students in the past couple of years. I've taught music, drama, French, Spanish, performing arts, SEN & EAL.

Samba Scheme of Work only (scheme and complete resources sold in a separate pack). Scheme makes reference to NC aims and objectives (KS3) as well as literacy, numeracy, SMSC/citizenship links. Extension/challenge opportunities provided along with Learning Objectives for the scheme. Originally created for year 8 or year 9 classes but could be used with a more able Year 7 or to introduce samba to GCSE students. Covered in the scheme: - devices such as syncopation, polyrhythm, cross rhythm, ostinato, call and response and layers. - introduction to the culture and history behind samba music - composing as a class and in groups, developing own rhythmic patterns - improvisation - performing as a whole class ensemble - leadership/conducting opportunities for pupils - following a leader/conducting - listening activities based on devices learnt

Originally created as a baseline assessment opportunity (composition and performance skills) for new Year 7s in the Autumn term. Could be used as a Battle of the Bands Project or group project for Year 8/9. Elements of Music and Our Music Scheme of Work with accompanying student workbook and Powerpoints for each lesson. All listening examples included. Scheme makes reference to NC aims and objectives (KS3), as well as literacy, numeracy, SMSC/citizenship links. Extension/challenge opportunities provided. Originally designed for EAL classes with very little English, but can also be used for KS2, lower ability KS3 classes or KS3 cover work. Covered in this scheme: - the elements of music vocabulary (tempo, pitch, timbre, silence, dynamics) - Introduction to Musical Instruments of the orchestra - listening exercises based on different musical instruments and elements of music (ranging from Stravinsky to Ed Sheeran) - basic introduction to graphic score and its function - researching and preparing a presentation on pupils’ own music from their culture/country - performance of music from pupils’ own culture/country - development of written and verbal literacy skills - opportunities for self assessment

A revision song for Rhythm and Metre to the tune of One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful&'. Originally I made this for my GCSE music class following the AQA syllabus to help them remember: note values for quaver, crotchet, minim, semibreve and terms such as time signature, syncopation, offbeat, pulse and triplet. I&';ve also used it for KS3 classes.
