A lesson that looks at the reasons why Boudicca’s revolt failed. This can be used with the Horrible Histories Boudicca song. Students have to read through different sources and work out why Boudicca lost and begin to explain different reasons for failure. Students end with a GCSE styled question, there is a writing frame for lower ability students.

A timer that works well for spotlight and quickfire questioning. Choose one student to sit in front of the projected screen whilst other students then have a minute to ask as many questions before the Zombie moves forward and attacks. The screen flickers and the zombie moves bit by bit. This works well for a competition to see how many questions each student can answer. Comes with Zombie Sound effects which can be switched off if desired.

Timers give 1 or 3 minutes before they go off. The Volcano explodes with smoke and brimstone, with sound effects, whilst the iceberg melts away into the sea, the rain-forest timer starts a monsoon which ends after animals try to escape the rain and ends when the rain stops. These work well as hot seat activities, students have to answer as many questions or define as many key words before their time runs out.

A range of music inspired timers. Each timer starts a concert in a specific genre of music. These can be used to time hot seating and quick fire questioning. These allow the class to be put into a bit of pressure and competition between students. Have used a rang of these timers in class to engage students and keep their focus till the end of the lesson. Place a specific song in the power point to match the genre for the full immersion.

This is the second lesson in the Norman Conquest scheme of work. Students read out the speeches (written in the previous lesson) to teach others about the four kings. There is an interactive poll for the lesson where students vote for the best claimant after the speeches to really create a NEXT factor experience. Once they have filled in either of the differentiated sheets students then have a go at a GCSE styled question with a writing frame with for weaker students. There is a Homework task included about creating a social media account for one of the claimants, there is a worksheet if students need help.

This lesson get students to think about causation and why William won at the Battle of Hastings. The main task is a card sort where students first put events in chronological order then attempt to make a diamond nine. Deciding which factors were most important. There is a interactive plenary or afl task included. There is a GCSE styled question with a writing frame to help those who struggle.

There is over a 150 medicine key words, events, people, cards based on the history of medicine GCSE topic. These can printed and laminated. When printing choose to print 8 pages on one page as they they are a better size for tasks. These can then be used for a multitude of tasks, such as timing them into putting them into a time periods. I did this every so often after a couple of times, the time it took was halved. They can also be used for class game of pictionary where they have to choose one at random and describe or draw it for the class to guess. Placing them on the tables and then with whiteboard pens making links between different people and events or group them into different factors such as war, communication government etc. AFL task where the table has to sort them into those they can explain and the ones that they struggle with.

A 43 page booklet that recaps the AQA america topic from 1920-45. The booklet contains key word prompts, questions and tasks. I use this as a bank of worksheets to keep refreshing their understanding of the topic. When it comes to their exams students can print these off for revision. Topics covered: -Reasons for the economic boom - Car Industry - Great depression - New Deal - WW2 and the economy - Entertainment and culture.

A lesson that looks at the events leading to the North Korean invasion, with a worksheet created to help students organise their notes and a diagram to annotate. The lesson has got a lot of information to deliver but is broke up with questions to pose to students to assess understanding. The lesson then looks at how the US, UN and Soviet Union official officially responded to the invasion and students looking at the UN resolution, Truman’s speech and a transcript of the soviet radio broadcast. Lesson includes a GCSE Source Question and Essay question with sentence starters and model answers to help evaluate their work, Lesson also includes some challenge tasks.

A lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973. Students investigate the inequalities created during the American Boom, students look at the rural experience, failing industries, farming industry, native Americans, black Americans etc. There is a GCSE question included with sentence starters for the less able and challenge tasks to stretch the top end.

This lesson looks at how the Supreme Court reacted to the New Deal and opposed it. Students look at two famous legal cases. There are challenge tasks to stretch and challenge students. There is a writing task with a focus on connectives. This lesson forms part of a three year SOW for AQA America 1920 - 1972 Opportunity and Inequality.

Then laminate Following tasks can be completed with them: - Students have to define key words given to them - Students have to group key words that link together -Students can write definitions on the back and test each other. - Give a table the whole pack and time them whilst sorting them into groups of defining them. - Students create a ven diagram and group the words that are to do with each war and words that are to do with both.

Also includes two interactive plenaries one is a question battle where the class is divided and aim to attack the other group’s character by answering question. The other one is a timed how many questions can you answer before the bullet reaches Mario, and score points by clicking on the boxes each time you answer. The plenaries are animated and have sound effects to keep students engaged.
