Edexcel iGCSE Chemistry 5 minute revision activities (Double award)

(1)
This resource contains little 5 minute activities for students to do as part of their Chemistry revision. It has been made using the Edexcel iGCSE Chemistry specification and all activities are chunked into the main topic areas: Principals of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. A suggested way to use the resource is to ask students to complete the activity and then colour code the task red, amber, green based on their confidence. This will help them to sort out which areas of the course they need to focus on the most. Another way to use the resource is using the Brain, Book, Buddy, Boss strategy.

It is no secret that feedback is the key to move our learners forward so it is crucial that we give them time to reflect and close the loop with some carefully planned activities. This resource contains 16 suggestions of activities/strategies you could do with your learners to ensure they are reflecting on your feedback, closing the loop and demonstrating how they are moving forwards with their learning.

This super fun and engaging Chemistry resource contains 4 activities that you and your students can enjoy using the Guess Who boards. My students love it! The activities are a combination of teacher led and student led. Each activity contains opportunities for extension and suggestions on differentiation. The activities are suitable across KS3, KS4 and KS5. If you do not have a set of boards, no problem! The activities can still be used by printing and laminating sets of the element cards.

This resource contains 21 model answers from topics that come up frequently on the exam papers. They are all scrambled up so students need to unscramble the text, identify the key marking points and then turn the text into a suitable picture/diagram/equation. The idea is then they can use the picture/diagram/equation to try to recall the text as a revision activity.

Grouping cards

Grouping cards

(0)
This resource will help you organise your students into different groups. For example, students can be arranged into ‘Rainbow Groups’ (mixed ability) and ‘Colour Groups’ (similar ability) seamlessly, allowing you to provide effective differentiation, support and challenge. Each student receives their unique card with a specific colour, shape, number and letter. The teacher assigns each student a card based on their ability. For example, if an activity requires students to work in mixed ability groups the teacher would ask students to get into their Rainbow Groups. If a teacher wanted students to complete different tasks or receive different amounts of support/challenge, then working in Colour Groups would be effective. When marking students work, use generic codes to save you writing out the same sentences every time. Simply write the letter of the code next to the place you want to give the feedback. Give each student a copy of the codes to stick in the front of their exercise book so they can refer back to them every time they are used. Add your own, subject specific, codes to the list.
