A Christmas Carol - Ghost of Yet to Come
An interesting lesson which generated great discussions for the starter task.
Main task includes reading the extract then speed dating comprehension questions before feeding back as a class.
Deeper analysis and exploration of how this ghost differs to the rest.
A Midsummer Night's Dream - Titania Pathetic Fallacy
A lesson zooming in on the language Titania uses during her argument with Oberon over the changeling boy.
My class examined her use of pathetic fallacy and the links to relationships.
Pass the quotation task, exam style question and example homework included.
A Midsummer Night's Dream - Enchanted Forest Description
A descriptive writing lesson loosely based on Hermia running away into the forest.
The lesson has been split into two and centers on them improving their writing skills through peer-assessment and self-assessment.
Can be adapted and used solely as a descriptive writing lesson.
Friar Lawrence Key Quotations and Moments
A revision lesson ideal for Year 10 or 11 pupils.
A range of key scenes that the Friar is included in, alongside a range of quotations to go with this. It is all in chronological order as well.
Pupils are tasked with analysing the Friar Lawrence as a character, based on the scenes and quotations provided.
Simon Lord of the Flies Revision
Perfect for KS4 Eduqas/WJEC.
A lesson which focuses on tracking Simon as a character from Chapter 1 to his death in Chapter 9.
All key quotations/key moments etc included on the table.

A Christmas Carol - Plot
This lesson is designed as a revision lesson to refresh knowledge of the plot.
It is great for all abilities as dual coding features heavily in the lesson.
Lesson requires pupils to explore images linked to the plot and put them in order. They then have to reduce the plot down to ‘buzz words’ - i.e the plot in its shortest format.
A Christmas Carol - Scrooge's Family
A lesson which focuses on exploring Scrooge’s family relationships.
Pupils are given 5 small extracts, taken from across the novel, and asked to explore what each one reveals about Scrooge’s familial relationships.
They are then given some challenging questions at the end of the lesson such as ‘to what extent do Scrooge’s family have a positive influence on his transformation’.
A resource which is easily adaptable to fit the needs of your GCSE class.

A lesson which includes a mini quiz with answers on Stave 2 and a worksheet centred on symbolism of Ghost of Christmas Past. My classes key ideas are included on the PowerPoint.
A Midsummer Night's Dream - Oberon and Titania Argue
A lesson centered on the argument between Titania and Oberon arguing over the changeling boy.
Speed dating comprehension task for understanding, which include example responses my students came up with.
Exam style question included as well for them to complete.
A Midsummer Night's Dream - Love Potion
Two lessons.
First lesson centres on the pupils understanding the love potions importance and then creating their own.
Second lesson focuses on them persuading people to buy their love potion.
Written example and worksheets included.
Great for KS3 and can be altered to suit both lower and higher ability.
Scrooge's Transformation
This lesson enables KS4 pupils to successfully track Scrooge’s transformation from Stave 1 to Stave 5.
They have to recall which stave each quotation was said in, link the quotations to specific and relevant context and then use the sentence starters and example essay to help them write their own.
Perfect for a mixed ability group or for any class who need to focus on revision based tasks ready for GCSE.
Macbeth - Plot
A lesson which focuses on revising the plot of Macbeth through the use of dual coding.
Pupils are encouraged to put the plot in the correct order through a series of images and then minimise the plot into manageable buzz words.
A great lesson for GCSE pupils revisiting plot.
Lesson 1 - A Midsummer Night's Dream - Plot Summary
A plot summary lesson which uses a range of skills:
Numeracy starter
Inference and deduction based on the image shown on the ppt i.e what will the play be about judging by the image?
Listening skills, as well as taking notes at the same time.
Plot summary sheet provided as well.
Chapter 10 - Oliver Twist - Robbing the Old Gentleman
This lesson involves the pupils using their inference and deduction skills based on Chapter 10 of Oliver Twist.
Instead of reading it, they will be given a list of statements from particular characters to figure out what exactly happened and who they think robbed the Old Gentleman.
Worked very well with a middle ability year 8 class and they loved using their prior knowledge of the characters to help them figure out the investigation.
A Christmas Carol - Exam Question on Relationships
A lesson which allows pupils to recall plot through spotting lies/errors on the PowerPoint.
Exam question on relationships with extract included, along with a high level, colour coded response with a worksheet for the pupils to fill in as well.
Can easily be adapted to suit lower ability through adapting my response.
A Christmas Carol - Context
A lesson focusing on context for A Christmas Carol (Victorian Era).
My class were given very specific facts and asked to link to as many key scenes as possible, along with finding key quotations.
Worked really well and helped them to remember to link to context for the exam without being overwhelmed by too much information.

Challenging questions asked about the extract to allow for independent/paired analysis.
