Speed Dating Sheet
Presentation criteria peer assessment sheet (saved as part of the dating card document)
Teaching tip - set hw to previous lesson for the students to bring in items of clothing similar to their design brief.
For the speed dating I had old clothes in the cupboard or I brought in some clothes from home. I took photos for the presentation product analysis for the students.
I really loved teaching these lessons as the students grew in confidence as the learning became more established ready for their own controlled assessment.
VCERT Food and Cookery Level 1 and Level 2 Exam Revision Cards made as a result of a support visit with the chief moderator of the course in Feb 2017 who went thorough the exam papers with us and highlighted what the examiner will be looking for.
This is a must resource for students studying the course.
I have printed my classes sets onto different coloured card.
Here you will find:
-A template booklet for the students to complete for unit 1 (word) and (publisher)
-A helpsheet for the unit 1 booklet for students / teachers (word)
-A unit 1 (excel) tracker
-A student / teacher verbal feedback sheet for unit 1 (word)
-Teacher / Student observation record to record practical's of Unit 1 (x3 required of 6 cooks) (word)
-The exam board teacher/internal moderator assessment evidence sheets for the front of the portfolio for unit 1`
-The exam board assessment criteria
Perfect for setting up the course and monitoring progress
After a support visit with the chief moderator for VCERT we discussed how the assessment booklet from the exam board was a lot of paper to copy and doesn't give a quick overview of the unit assessment to the student, teacher or internal moderator. (We had a support visit because we have just moved over from the WJEC - Food Course)
It was asked in the visit if we could condense it down to x2 A4 sheets for each unit, which could be typed into on word rather than a PDF or handwritten into. She said as long as it contains the same as the assessment booklet then it was fine. THIS VERSION WILL SAVE YOU SO MUCH TIME!!! :)
This uploaded bank of resources contains editable WORD documents for the exam board assessment of units 1, 2 and 4 for both level 1 and level 2. It also has the exam board criteria for Pass, Merit, Distinction for each unit which can be used as well to map out and evidence the students work.
We are entering our year 11's for both level 1 and level 2 as an achievement at level 1 is worth performance points to the school rather than nothing if they fail level 2 exam which a small minority might.
I have also added to this the excel trackers and student /teacher RAG feedback sheets for units 1,2,4 for Level 1 and 2. (This is a compulsory requirement from the exam board just something that our school uses to track and feedback to students)
Thanks :)
This resource consists of the blank design question, a mark scheme for the students to either self assess or peer assess and a vocabulary sheet to help them.
I have left the mood board part blank as my students make their own but very easy to copy and paste images or a whole mood board from another author if needed.
I used this year in and year out but adapt it to the exam theme.
I also draw examples and put them on the board and get the students to mark my design question work as a starter. Usually teach this over 1-2 hours depending on the ability of the class.
As stated in my other resources, I have 10 years experience of teaching this course and I have been a moderator for AQA.
Good Luck with your classes this year :)
Attached is a really worthwhile and helpful resource.
The powerpoint demonstrates how to complete the design question to its full potential.
It includes drawings - templates, pattern application , decoration application, how to label, colour. Lots of detailed examples.
This is coming from an experienced teacher of the AQA courses and I have been a moderator for the textiles specification for 3 years. Achieving good results year in year out for all ability learners. Please see my other AQA Textiles resources. :)
Good luck with your students :)
This is coming from an experienced teacher of 10 years. I have been a moderator for the AQA and have had good results for my low - high ability students year after year.
I have uploaded x3 resources.
The first (best) one is the typical exam questions. This is the most useful for all learners. It has colour pictures. It can be used on the board as well as printed in black and white.
The second one is the revision cards. This has more challenging questions but builds up the confidence to develop and in depth knowledge it preparation of those extended writing questions and knowledge overall for all questions.
The third one is RAG sheet for exam topics. This sheet can be used to map the students confidence at the start, middle or end of the revision scheme of work. It really helps when planning how much time you need to spend on each topic which different students or classes.
Thanks :)

This is an excellent resource for getting the students on track with their coursework. I have worked for AQA as a moderator and I got superb results for my textiles GCSE students for 10 years in a row.
The RAG verbal feedback tracker goes in the front of students folders at the beginning of the course. The teachers/students can make notes in the comment boxes. The teacher signs off the work when the students have completed it to their target grade and the excel coursework tracker turns green.
The excel tracker can be used with the verbal feedback on the board and provides the evidence required for senior leadership for promoting good progress. The excel spreadsheet is conditionally formatted meaning you can type numbers into the boxes 1,2,3,4 and it will change colour rather than manually changing the colour for each box.
Hope it is helpful :)
