I am an English teacher with several years experience of working in 6th forms. I was recommended by my Head of Department to share my resources on TES after he consistently praised my lessons and schemes of work for how easy they are for teachers to use and access them. I pride myself on my planning, and make sure each slide of each lesson is aesthetically pleasing, with a clear title, main task, and usually an extension task.

A Streetcar Named Desire Lang-Lit full SoW

A complete Scheme of Work (15 lessons) to teach A Streetcar Named Desire, aimed towards the English Language and Literature spec. This SoW will teach the entirety of the play, looking at characters, themes, and context, and analysing linguistic and dramatic features, such as spoken language features, word/sentence types, and conventions of a tragedy. PLEASE NOTE: I already sell a scheme of work to teach Streetcar for the Literature spec; these two schemes are very similar, except for the Lang-Lit one having a much more linguistic focus!

Handmaid's Tale Postmodernism Historical Notes

(0)
This is four lessons (in one document) which helps students understand Postmodernism, and applies this in detail to the ‘Historical Notes’ section of The Handmaid’s Tale. First, students look at 3 poems to explore Victorian, Modernist, and Postmodern themes. They also look at how painting styles have changed over the centuries to less realistic and more abstract forms. They also consider the relative reliability of different ways of researching the past. The Historical Notes is then broken up into 6 sections, with specific questions linking to Postmodernism for each section. Finally, other theories (such as Marxism and Feminism) are used to analyse the text through different lenses. See my complete SoW on The Handmaid’s Tale for more useful lessons!

This document contains the 30 poems for the Edexcel English Literature spec. Each poem has a detailed summary and glossary. This has been especially helpful for students to tackle these challenging poems. It also contains a contents page, tables to summarise poems and links between them (for students to complete) and overall exam information.
