GCSE English Language Paper 2 Walkthrough

This is a walkthrough of GCSE AQA English Language Paper 1 (June 2019 - boats paper). It includes references to the mark scheme and a wealth of examples which are annotated in terms of where they hit the mark scheme and then each exemplar has examiner comments alongside. There are accompanying worksheets for the students with all of the exemplars on. I have created this in the hopes that students will become more confident in knowing the difference between the levels of the mark scheme e.g. what the difference is between ‘some’ and ‘clear’. By the end of the slides, students will have completed an entire language paper 2. I plan to then take this in to mark and give them feedback on how to improve. They will then have time to make these improvements in lesson. However, you can, of course, use these slides however you’d like to. I hope you find them useful.

This is a scheme of learning which focuses on the theme of social justice across several extracts from different Shakespeare plays including Othello, King Lear, Macbeth and many more. The scheme prompts students to explore different social justice issues in the extracts from Shakespeare’s plays and to analyse the language used to present these social issues. The scheme then makes wider links to non-fiction articles and other pieces of fiction. For example, after exploring poverty in King Lear, students then move on to read Marcus Rashford’s letter to MPs about free school meals. This scheme has a booklet with it which includes all of the extracts and space for students to complete the tasks. This is designed to run over a half term.

Literacy posters (DIRT)

(0)
These posters are designed to help make DIRT time more easy and effective to carry out in a reflective lesson. The idea behind them is that students can take a photograph of these on their phone or tablet, they then return to their seats and read the information about the area of literacy that they need to improve on and then complete the activity to practice this skill. These can also just be used as posters to have in a classroom or as worksheets to hand out in lessons.
