A three-way differentiated resource that is a reading comprehension based on the opening extract from the first chapter of The Iron Man.

A fully resourced lesson on semi-colons that has been written for Year 5 but is easily adaptable. Included is the lesson presentation and three differentiated worksheets that focus on being able to use semi-colons, particularly between two independent clauses. These then move on to checking children's understanding through questions before the HA activity gets children to write their own sentences with semi-colons.

A skill starter that gives children a list of words and a Venn diagram to decide if words are nouns, adjectives or both. This could then be extended by getting children to write sentences where they have said both to show how it can work as both.

23 different questions for Chapter Twenty Three of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl that test a range of skills. These can be used for guided reading sessions or to give children as activities to support guided reading sessions/ whole class reading comprehensions. The questions follow the order of the chapter but don't have answers attached as the answers can vary depending on the child's opinion.

A simple whole class marking sheet that can be used for KS2 English. This can then be used to feedback, with this being used effectively for independent writing as it doesn't give specific advice to a specific individual but looks at what has worked well, where to improve and other areas of focus. The PDF version is a simple print and write on sheet while the PowerPoint offers the opportunity to type notes instead.

A multi-resource unit of learning based on the first chapter of the Iron Man. Included is a 76 slide presentation that works through mini-activities such as defining vocabulary as well as then having fully-resourced lessons including independent writing and grammar opportunities before finishing with a science investigation.

Twelve lessons that focus on the rainforests in different ways, sequencing out and ensuring recap of knowledge. Included is the unit plan, a KWL sheet that can be used to check and develop understanding, the lesson presentations which includes pink and green bubbles to support and challenge and activities required for the lessons as well as a fact file.

A lesson that focuses on what modal verbs are and works on being able to use them. Included is a lesson presentation that recaps modal verbs with tasks in identifying them and replacing them to change the possibility, an activity about rainforests that requires them to fill in the gaps to create a persuasive text, a modal verbs word mat and an exit task that checks understanding using a question from a KS2 GPS test.

A lesson that focuses on prefixes with a specific focus on the prefix un-. Included are all the resources required to run the lesson, including a presentation with examples and questions followed by three differentiated worksheets. This lesson is also useful for dictionary practise as it gets children to identify the definitions of different words.

A mini biography/ fact file that introduces Tutankhamun's life for KS2 children.

A reading comprehension based on an extract from the National Geographic website on rainforests. Included is the text which is then surrounded by questions around the outside that link to the text. Answers are also included on a separate document.

A lesson that focuses on general sentence punctuation that can be used as a recap for SATs revision or adapted for new learning. Included is the PowerPoint for the lesson (including green challenge questions), an activity with answers, previous SATs questions linked to punctuation and a recap task that can be used in the week/s after the lesson as a starter to remind children what they have worked on.

Two introductory lessons to the story ‘The Explorer’ that focus on making predictions around the story before moving on to focusing on the first chapter in the second lesson. Included is the PowerPoint which includes key discussion points and questions as well as the activities for the first lesson. N.B. You will need a copy of the book as the chapters aren’t included due to copyright.
