Three different activity sheets that work on common nouns and proper nouns. One sheet includes common nouns and requires children to think of proper nouns with another sheet having proper nouns to then think of an example of a common noun. The final sheet sheet is blank for children to think of examples of both.

A guided reading session based on the prologue for Romeo and Juliet. Useful for a whole class session where you can read through the text as a class before children complete the questions in pairs/ small groups before going through the answers at the end. Worked well with children in Year 5 as an introduction to Shakespeare and to look at the various meanings of the prologue.

A fact file/ knowledge organiser that can be stuck in children's books when doing a specific genre of writing in either English lessons or in a foundation subject. So far they include: Instructions - Included on the sheet is a list of key vocabulary and a set of examples for time adverbials and for imperative verbs. Information texts - Included on the sheet is a list of key vocabulary, an example of an information text and a diagram that shows the sequenced structure from the example text. Newspapers - Included on the sheet is a list of key vocabulary, a labelled image of a newspaper story and a reminder about the key facts to include in any newspaper article. The planning is based on Lila's journey in The Firework-Maker's Daughter but most of the resources are easily adaptable to use for other diary writing units. Included are all the lesson presentations, resources and planning required as well as a fact file that children can stick in their book at the start of the unit.

A reading comprehension based on Mo Farah. Included is a fact file about Mo Farah and three differentiated question sheets with answers included. The fact file can also be used separately to work on Mo Farah or show examples of how people can write bibliographies about a sporting star. Reading questions work on both fact finding and inferring from the information available, enabling children to practise their reading skills as well as learning about Mo's background story.

Included is the lesson presentation and three differentiated worksheets that focus on being able to use semi-colons, particularly between two independent clauses. These then move on to checking children's understanding through questions before the HA activity gets children to write their own sentences with semi-colons.
