Singapore Bar is growing in popularity in this country due to the success of Singapore in the PISA tables for Maths, with the methods shown helping children break down problems in a much simpler way. This presentation goes through different models of the bar and how to apply it to a range of problems with step by step details for each problem. It can be used to help individuals become more confident with the methods and applying them or could also be used to help begin to lead staff training on the method.

Three differentiated worksheets appropriate for Year 5/6 that look at being able to divide fractions by whole numbers.

Two different worksheets that give the chance to practise multiplying a 3-digit number by a 2-digit number using the written method. Both worksheets are set out in two ways: one where the questions are just written and children need to set them out and one where they are already set out ready. Answer sheets are also included for both sheets. The first sheet focuses on multiplying a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number before then multiplying the same 3-digit number by a 2-digit number to introduce the new step. The final questions are then a range of 3-digit by 2-digit to apply the new learning. The second sheet focuses on multiplying different 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers. There is also a multiplication square attached to support if necessary.

An activity that gets children to round statistics based on the top 10 followed people on Twitter to help with engagement whilst also getting children to consider how to round up or down appropriately depending on the number e.g. rounding 112,543,124 to the nearest million rather than to the nearest 10. For each one, children will cut out the slip and stick it in their book. They will then have to decide whether it is appropriate to round to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000 or 1000000. Once they have rounded these they will then write an explanation of why they rounded to that number.

A fact file about Julius Caesar that is also a reading comprehension. This includes three differentiated worksheets with 15 questions each and answers included to test children's comprehension knowledge as well as learning about Julius Caesar at the same time.

A lesson for Year 6 Living Things that gets children to practise being able to classify living things into different groups by learning about the Linnaean System of Classification. Included are all the resources required for the lesson including the plan, presentation and activity sheets for children to use.
