A new and updated full lesson for GCSE students of Spanish - any exam board. This has been updated to include the impact of recent events on the Spanish speaking world. This is not aimed at any specific year group as there are a range of activities (red to green) varying in difficulty. The lesson includes speaking, writing and reading comprehension activities. Supporting material includes a printable chart for students in tackling the photo-card. The first speaking activity requires students to look at a photo and describe what they see, along with a few other questions. This is particularly useful for exam practice. There is also a printable reading comprehension activity where students must answer questions and practice writing in full sentences. Half of the lesson focuses on the impact of recent events on Spain. The other half focuses on racism in Latin America - what its roots are, its prevalence in old vs modern day society, etc. There are a mix of group/pair and individual activities. Aimed at A level French students studying ‘Un Secret’ for paper 2, the resource includes: A revision PPT with tasks and extension tasks to cater to students of different abilities. The PPT focuses on revision mainly, with there being a brief summary, a biography on the author, a summary of main characters, a recap of the main themes, information on historical context, the relevance of time and space in the book, a comment on the structure of the book, a family tree so students can understand character relationships better, a comment on the cinema adaptation of the book. There is a translation from French into English, from a literary critic’s blog on the film. This is also useful to the students doing the AS exam as translation will be required. There is an example of an essay written in an exam style the students will need to copy provided, as well as a mark scheme. This will enable students to get to grips with the quality of writing they need to be producing for the exam. There are tasks set in class on this resource, but it can be adapted based on your students’ weak points.

The activity focuses on putting different aspects of grammar into practice, along with trying to inspire the students to write creatively in Italian. The activities are as follows: Complete the sentences by conjugating the verb into the right tense and the right person. Then ask these questions to your neighbour and answer them spontaneously. This is good revision for the spontaneous element of the GCSE oral exam. Use the conditional tense to write/say 3 things you would do differently next Easter holiday.
