This can be a speaking and listening activity or writing activity.
Cut out and laminate the 30 cards showing characters with thought bubbles.
The last 3 cards just show thought bubbles and children can add their own characters.
Add these to the writing corner for children to use independently with dry markers.
Children write in the thought bubble a word or phrase that the character may be thinking. They can expand on this in discussions.
Characters range from adults and children with varied expressions and emotions. Links in with emotions and feelings topics.
A nice follow up activity is for each child in class to choose a card and then in turn they say the name of the character and what they are thinking e.g. my name is Henry the snowman and I am thinking that if anyone else tries to take my carrot nose, then I will throw this snowball at them!
4 designs of book review writing templates for KS1 children to choose from.
The first is black and white and asks for key information. 2,3 and 4 templates have colour borders and can be used in a variety of ways.

Children can write the cursive words and colour the pictures.

Sheet 4 is a table for children to cut up and reorganise onto the blank table on sheet 5. Children can cut and paste or draw/write the answers in the table.

Extend the activity by asking children to talk about each column or write about each one.
