This is a fun game to play supporting your work on phonics and initial sounds. Lots of speaking and listening and thinking involved where the answers may not be so obvious as with the X slide where the pictures are things containing an x. There is a slide for each letter of the alphabet and 10 pictures on each slide. Children name the pictures and can say a phrase or sentence for each one. Differentiate by asking the children to name specific pictures dependent on their ability or levels. Press and the answers will fly in on command. You could extend this activity by asking the children to write a list for each of the letters of the alphabet and the answers can then be checked. Children could work in pairs or small groups or on their own. The picture cards can also be printed and cut out and then sorted or matched to the original slides.

Sheet 5 - children can either draw 12 of the pictures in the boxes or write 12 words beginning with S. Sheet 6 - shows pictures around the outside.
