A Science activity idea linked to States of Matter with a cross curricular literacy element. Children will enjoy matching the pictures to the words and then sorting them into solid, liquid or gas. There are 36 colour pictures and words to match. There are 2 sorting tables - 1 with lines for writing lists and 1 without for pasting pictures.

Links to Community, Jobs, Occupations, comprehension and word work. Children name, discuss and label the jobs in the 12 pictures. Children read the sentences and find out which occupation each one describes. 3 and 4. Word work - children read and match name of occupations with pictures or tools and equipment that may be needed in each job. A colour and label sheet. Children can choose to label with occupation names or equipment/tools names.

This Power Point starts of with an animated slide showing 6 pictures of different days out children may experience. Click to show the words to go with the pictures and children can see if they can name the places correctly. Page 2 shows black and white drawings of the days out and the words appear on a click. Next there is a slide for each day out as a writing template. Print off the sheets for worksheets where children can write about their favourite days out or places they would like to visit.

A discussion activity around people who help us and the NHS. Sheet 1 asks children to label the pictures and colour them in e.g. ambulance and wheelchair. Sheet 2 is a word bank for those children who need support with their writing. Sheet 3 is a doodle sheet for colouring in medical related pictures.
