Children love balloons , especially those that can whizz and pop !
This is a game to practise addition of numbers. It is a good exercise for speed and accuracy as well as you can select the speed of play.
Content : This is a Microsoft Powerpoint based teaching tool and contains 2 versions of the game.

The interactive version is useful for individual, small groups or math centres. In the automated version , the slides will play and advance automatically - useful for keeping the students meaningfully engaged for a busy moment.
A math addition question is presented for each balloon. The balloon will start to become bigger as it is blown, and then pop. The answer will be shown after the pop. Challenge your students to come up with the answer before it pops !

How to play :
Introduce the sight words , or vocabulary words.
Move the slides using the arrow key at the bottom right hand corner.
Each child will choose an item and read out the words .
If it is read correctly, the child can touch the food to see the caterpillar munching the food. But this is one sneezy caterpillar, and on every slide , he will sneeze when he is munching his food. See who gets its sneeze !!
In the section on Food and Fruits, read the word, then touch the caterpillar to see what it eats !

Reviewing sight words or assessing children for their sight words need not be a dreary process. Here's a fun way to help children recognise 52 sight words from the Dolch word list (Primer set).

How to play :

How to play :
Touch/click on a balloon. A number will be shown. The balloon will become bigger. Provide the number that can make 10 with the first before the balloon pops after 2 blows. The answer will be shown when the balloon pops.
For small groups , students can provide the answer verbally. For large groups, a template is provided for them to write their answer,
and check it off when the balloon pops.
I started on all these game creation to suit the interests of the children I teach. To my surprise, they started giving me feedback and even dreamt up new ideas and shared with me. And they get so thrilled when they see their ideas being put into the games. So feedback is important and I value them very much. I'd love to hear from you :)
