Colourful Semantics: The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

(0)
The Very Hungry Caterpillar themed colourful semantics. The cards help struggling speakers and writers to retell a story, giving them more confidence when they write. A brilliant tool to support children with EFL - ESL - ELD - EAL - SEN! Colourful semantics is an approach created by Alison Bryan. It is a great way to support children who struggle to write independently. Colourful Semantics helps children to: •Develop a wider vocabulary •Make sentences longer •Develop use of nouns, verbs, prepositions and adjectives •Improve story telling skills The colour scheme relates to the types of words in a sentence: Who? (noun) Doing? (verb) What? (object) Where? (location). Children use the strips included to help them structure their own sentences. This pack contains story specific vocabulary, including: 3 who - noun/person cards 3 doing - verb cards 18 what - noun/object cards 9 time conjunction cards 9 adjective cards 2 where - noun/place cards

Colourful Semantics: Prepositions and Fronted Adverbials!

(0)
This handy pack of 54 fronted adverbials and prepositions helps support struggling writers when writing more complex sentences. The fronted adverbials are used at the beginning of a sentence to give more information about the action in the main clause. The difference in colour helps to remind children that they are separate from the main clause and must include a comma. The pack includes the following: 9 adverbial cards to describe manner (how) 27 adverbial cards to describe time (when) 9 adverbial cards to describe place (where) 9 preposition cards to describe position

Phase 2 Phonics worksheets

A complete set of home learning sheets for Phase 2. No prep needed, just print and go! FOUR differentiated levels of activity for every sound: Set 1 - s, a, t, p; Set 2 - i, n, m, d; Set 3 - g, o, c, k; Set 4 - ck, e, u, r; Set 5 - h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss. The worksheets are based on the Ruth Miskin scheme and DFE letters and sounds. They will work alongside all major Phonics programmes. Every level provides children with the opportunity to write the sound and develop their vocabulary using the images. The activities are progressive, moving from initial sound recognition to reading comprehension using drawing. Every page includes images with the initial/final digraph sound to help children to remember them. These have been tried and tested in my own classroom and work well as both home learning or as an independent activity.
