I am an English teacher with 10 years experience. I believe my resources are robust, creative, engaging and challenging. I aim to share resources which are ready to print and PowerPoint lessons which are ready to teach. All of my resources are of a high quality and in line with the current Scottish curriculum, or else can be easily adjusted to suit other curricula. I hope you enjoy any resource you purchase and they make your life a little less stressful! :)

This resource is based on 2 very funny, engaging and well written articles by Charlie Brooker. I have made questions for each article as a way of spicing up RUAE practice with my senior classes. My pupils have responded very well to both articles and the questions for each passage are up to date with current SQA standards. No marking scheme.

The Great Gatsby: Critical Essay Guidance PowerPoint Higher/ GCSE

A PowerPoint presentation which should be used to teach pupils how to structure the main body paragraphs of their Critical Essays and analyse and evaluate their quotations properly using an approach called “TIE” ( Technique, Importance and Evaluation) There are 5 example paragraphs which I have labelled, and which include full and detailed analysis. Obviously the slides are printable and I’ve found a useful task is to have the pupils annotate the paragraph once you have taught them and taken them through a couple of examples. Critical Essay Writing Help: Learn how to use “Peer” to structure your paragraphs & Learn how to use “TIE” to fully analyse and evaluate your quotations.

New for 2021. This resource includes an example Critical Essay (A), for an “interesting/ memorable character” type essay question, but can easily be adapted to fit another essay question. The essay follows a neat, predictable paragraph structure: Topic Sentence, Point, Evidence, Analysis & Relate to Essay Question. It also includes a placemat activity which correlates with the essay whereby pupils find the evidence/ analysis and record it on the placemat. This works well as a revision placemat.

A unit of work which explores the representation of poverty in Scottish poetry. the unit looks closely at Glasgow Sonnet by Edwin Morgan and The Slum by Eddie Linden. The PowerPoint presentation takes the pupils through poetic techniques with tasks throughout. There are two optional outcomes for this unit aim of the unit: 1 is for pupils to write their own examples of poetry using the techniques learned. The other is for pupils to write an Added Value Unit comparing the 2 poems with regards to form and structure, the use of language and main ideas. Shooting Stars Essay Help N6

As we approach the exam, I wanted to prepare the pupils for potential unseen essay questions they may encounter in the exam and to move away from the attitude that they can “learn” an essay and hope it comes up on the day. I made these resources to support pupils in writing in response to the following essay questions: *Choose a poem which is effective because of its use of contrast and/ or imagery. With reference to appropriate techniques, discuss how the poet’s use of these features contributes to your appreciation of the central concerns of the poem. * and *Choose a poem which deals with an issue of importance to human experience. With reference to appropriate techniques, explain how this issue is presented and discuss how it enhances your appreciation of the poem. * Each resource contains some general guidance linked to unpacking the essay question, a partially populated table designed to encourage them to choose the appropriate and most suitable evidence from the poem for each question, and an example paragraph.
