Speechburger (Speech Marks Inverted Commas)
misspoolescoolschoolmisspoolescoolschool

Speechburger (Speech Marks Inverted Commas)

(3)
A visual aid to remember the order of speech marks. On the speech burger goes 1. The bottom bun - The opening speech marks (66) 2. The burger - The speech 3. The salad and toppings - The punctuation e.g. comma, exclamation mark etc. 4. The top bun - The closing speech marks (99) I tell the children to imagine putting a burger together, so that they remember to start from the bottom and not from the top. Good resource to print out in colour, fill in and display on the wall or in their Literacy books for reference. If you love it, please leave me a review!

Identify Features of a News Article

(4)
A funny news article about a fictional school which decides to serve rat meat for school dinners, yuck! I used this for my whole class to read and then work together to identify features: rhyme, repetition, alliteration etc. They can do this as a whole class, in small groups or individually, using the space on the worksheet to write down their observations. I used this with Y5/6 but it could be suitable for a variety of ages and abilities, depending on the specific features you choose to focus on. If you love this resource, please leave me a review!
