An overview of how SEND needs can be met through the PSHE curriculum with details for activities and the impact of them.

The lesson will focus on healthy coping strategies - focus is very much on support.

The lesson will cover the condition endometriosis. Students will identify what Endometriosis i, explain the symptoms of Endometriosis and assess how Endometriosis can be treated. The condition affects 1 in 10 women so there will be students it affects at some point in life.

The lesson looks at contraception, and allows students to identify different types of contraception, apply knowledge to case studies and discuss advantages and disadvantages of different types.

The lesson looks at sexual harassment, and allows students to identify different types of sexual harassment, apply knowledge to case studies and discuss what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour and where to seek support.

The lesson will focus on what stress is and why students need to be aware of it. Students will identify some of the physiological symptoms of stress, explain ways to manage stress and discuss how stress can be harmful. This is particularly useful for when approaching GCSE’s.

Half a term (60 min session a week) on careers based lessons. Students will explore different career pathways further, looking at personal qualities for example to broaden their knowledge on careers are suitable for them. Students will reflect on further skills building on from year 8 such as problem solving. All lessons matched against CDI framework and PSHE Association objectives.

Half a term (60 min session a week) on careers based lessons. Half a term (20 min sessions each - 2 a week) on careers based lessons. 12 lessons in total. Students will explore different career aspirations and what they might like to do in the future and they will start to think what they might need to do to get there, planning for the future. Students will explore times of change in their lives and how this links to qualifications and careers and will also reflect on creative and long life skills, and the importance of these within careers. All lessons matched against CDI framework and PSHE Association objectives.

Half a term (40 min session a week) on careers based lessons. Students will explore different career pathways further, looking at entrepreneurs for example to broaden their knowledge on what is available to them. Students will reflect on further skills building on from year 7 such as teamworking, interpersonal and communication skills, and the importance of these within careers. Students will explore STEM Careers and will learn about different roles and misconceptions. All lessons matched against CDI framework and PSHE Association objectives.

The Issues and Debates booklet can be used as a work booklet throughout lessons and/or as a revision booklet. Students have used the booklet to revise from after it has been completed. There are many exam questions and tasks embedded throughout. It covers all of the content for the topic Issues and Debates in Year 13 AQA.
