Another retrieval activity for the Tudor Rebellions OCR ALevel course. This one randomly jumbles words and facts which are linked to the 5 rebellions against Henry VII. Students can colour code them according to which rebellion they are relevant to then as an extension they can try and add more detail about the facts. Eg which places are sites of battles? Which are attempted invasions etc. Answers also included for teachers new to the course or for self-assessment.

This is lesson 1 from my unit of work on Weimar Germany 1918-1929 Lesson 1: Intro to topic and WWI Context This lesson examines the impact of WWI on Germany following the Armistice setting context for the German Revolution. This assembly is based on this year’s theme- reclaiming the Narrative as well as highlighting how easily false narratives have spread. Examines the role of racial bias in the media and politics in the UK and the riots of 2024 as well as the insideous nature of the anti-Haitian rhetoric from some in the USA. Idea is to promote awareness of the danger of misinformation and to encourage students to challenge one sided narratives especially if they are hateful. This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on teaching the Holocaust. It focuses on Pre War Jewish life in Europe and is an introduction to the Holocaust topic. Students cannot necessarily understand the gravity of what was lost in the Holocaust if they do not have a grasp of Jewish life and contribution to life before it. This is a fully resourced lesson, no textbooks required. Includes mindmap template, evidence sheets for group work, maps and a plenary activity designed to examine and discredit antisemitic stereotypes using the content learned in the lesson. Edexcel GCSE History This lesson examines the ways in which Lanfranc changed the Saxon Church during the Norman conquest and how this enabled William to maintain control. Includes a “go find” activity which can also be used as a carousel with students working on different aspects of the Church. Could also be turned into an investigative commission where Lanfranc sends investigating Norman Archdeacons to report on wrong doings in the Church then writes a report.
