This is a complete week of phonics planning and resources linked to Letters and Sounds. Included are links to Real Life Phonics and Simply Phonics videos on YouTube. All videos, ideas and resources are tried and tested with children aged 4-5 (Reception/ FS2).

I have always enjoyed using the Jolly Phonics songs in my phonics lessons, but I decided to create this video, when a four-year old asked me what a tennis game was. I was also asked what castanets and ‘water gurgles down the drain’ means. This is the remastered version… (as version one had a few errors). This is another bingo style activity I have created, linked specifically to the sounds of the woodland. Ideal to use alongside ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson. I would suggest printing the gamecards out as photographs (two per page). Use alongside the listening video found at www.youtube.com/misterteach.

This is a resource to use alongside the video. Challenge children to volunteer to orally segment a farm animal for the other children to ‘guess’ by orally blending the word. I made a series of videos for children to move their ‘lightsabers’ in the air to. Great for developing strength for writing in the arms and pre-cursive letter formation. I also have videos that run alongside Letters and Sounds Sets. Visit: www.youtube.com/misterteach

This is a set of posters including all Year 3 and 4 words form the NC spelling list. Can be printed small and laminated on desks or larger for display on the walls. (very colourful).

Tens frames display cards. These are great for relating numerals to arrangements on tens frames.

These 0-10 posters were created to help children recognise numbers in many different forms .

Use these word towers on tables. Print out and trim the left edge to the line. Laminate and fold along the line joining each column. Tape along to join. They will then stand freely on desks.

I made the first of these certificates for some children in my class who love certificates! Suitable for EYFS.

A classic activity, requiring children to make the words containing the middle short vowel sounds with magnetic letters or letter cards first, then write the words. This resource is to be used in alongside the ‘Dear Zoo’ Listening game video (Zoo Animal Sounds Listening Game - Phase 1 Phonics) that can be found on my YouTube channel www.youtube.com/misterteach. The listening game is an excellent activity to use during Phase 1 of your phonics teaching. It teaches children the real sounds of the animals in the book and a chance to use the fans to make their guesses of which animal is making the sound as you use the game. This resource includes the numerals 0-9 in yellow and 1 and 2 in green, so that children can make numbers such as 11 and 22.
