This lesson focuses on exam technique - specifically planning and writing a 12 mark answer to what is always a popular topic with examiners but one students struggle to remember and explain. This has been designed for AQA Paper 1D - the new 2016 start spec. This follows on from the causes of the wall street crash lesson. Plan and detailed markscheme provided.

The lesson firstly covers the second new deal - information slides have been provided if you wish to split the lesson into 2 and remove the information from the SWaT sheet for students to obtain themselves. This ppt (and the attached resources) provide an overview of isolationism and causes of the economic boom in the USA. It affords students the opportunity to practice a 6 mark question on the causes of the economic boom. A student worksheet is provided at the bottom of the ppt for students to make notes on whilst revising if they wish.

Celebrate World Space Week this October (UK) with your classes or tutor groups with this resource bundle which is a combination of my 50x question quiz, Crossword puzzle (much of the content is covered in the quiz) and Wordsearch. These resources are themed around the event and all three resources come complete with answers. This resource for World Space Week quiz created on Microsoft Powerpoint suitable for KS3 and KS4 secondary students. Quiz There are 50 multiple choice questions in this quiz covering facts and knowledge about space and the solar system, picture matching with keywords, spacial ‘firsts’ and astro achievements as well as space in music, tv and film! The answers are then to be shared as a class either by going through each question (ensure you are in present mode for the correct answer to colour green) for students to peer or self mark. You could alternatively use the quick answer quiz sheet variation of this quiz if you would prefer to speed things up! Crossword Also included is an 18x question crossword complete with answers. Most of the answers to questions within the crossword worksheet are covered in the Quiz so I would recommend the quiz is completed first! The answers to the crossword make up the wordbank students will need to complete the wordsearch activity! Wordsearch Finally, there are 3x worksheets included in this resource - all have the same words to find. 2 wordsearches do not have a wordbank as students need to first complete the crossword puzzle and use the answers from the crossword to discover which words to find in the wordsearch. These are differentiated as Medium and Hard in the files. There is an additional wordsearch with a wordbank if you wish for students to complete the wordsearch as a standalone activity. This lesson has been devised for the purpose of giving the new Y6's on transition week a taste of the model and structure of history lessons. There is plenty emphasis on engagement and routine. AFL activities are incorporated into the lesson as are carousel activities, people bingo, sound clips and video links for engaging starters. Resources are included at the bottom of the powerpoint and a set of teacher instructions are also included at the top. Also the instructions & resources for creating your witch tabards are included. The lesson follows the 4 part lesson strategy and incorporates familiar icons used on all my lessons which I have embedded within all department lessons. This lesson is designed to look at the aftermath of the Battle of Hastings and explore the reasons why William of Normandy won at the Battle of Hastings. Again lessons have been differentiated to suit mixed ability and differentiated resources are incorporated within the pack.

This lesson looks at who Elizabeth I was and the ways in which she wanted herself to be viewed by her public. Students get to decode hidden messages in Elizabethan portraits. As always the lesson is presented in an excellent way and designed for maximum student engagement.

This lesson covers part of the ‘Mid Tudor Crisis’. It explores the boy king Edward VI as a ruler of England and the problems he causes with regards to the succession. Lady Jane Grey - his choice of successor is included and offer students the opportunity to find out her fate also. Students are to assimilate an idea that Henry’s children’s religious beliefs are de-stabalizing England and will therefore cause problems for Elizabeth when she becomes monarch.
