Year 8 History Full SOW 2016-17 (2 year KS3)

This is the 2016-17 Scheme of work which has been produced for Y8. The lessons I plan and sell on here correspond perfectly with the SOW. This is a SOW which has been honed, changed and improved over my years of teaching. The SOW offers a week by week breakdown (using 2016/17 dates) of each lesson (based on a 2 lesson a week average). It is easy and comprehensive for the non specialists to use and works well for us keeping track as we have many split classes in lower school. Suggested homeworks included and a column to enter the annual data collections can be added which can make planning assessments easier. Lessons for this SOW can be bought in bulk as well as individually. Please message me any requests if I havent yet uploaded any units and I will endeavour to upload them ASAP.

Weekly tutor time quiz - September 2

This resource is a 20 question tutor time/ form time multiple choice quiz created on Microsoft Powerpoint suitable for KS3 and KS4 secondary students. I will publish a new 20 question quiz weekly during term time; this weeks quiz was created for September 2022 week 2, however it can be used at any date as the questions are not time/season dependent. I love doing a weekly quiz with my tutor group at the end of the week on a Friday morning - so its a great activity to start in formtime as we go back to school for the start of the new academic year! There are 20 general knowledge questions in this quiz varying from geography, history, science and world trivia. The answers are provided in 2 different formats depending on your time and preference. The quick answers are spread across 2 slides at the end of the quiz - each answer is revealed per click. The ‘slide answers’ uncover each question as they were originally shown with the correct answer highlighted upon click. I personally prefer the latter for the multiple choice style quiz. NOW INCLUDED - ANSWER SHEET & LEADERSHIP BOARD SPREADSHEET I would recommend for this quiz students get into groups of no more than 4 and the activity should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Please keep an eye out for my weekly quizzes and review/leave feedback if possible. Also if you prefer the terminology ‘form time’ to ‘tutortime’ then I have provided an alternate title you can swap in at the side of slide 1 on the Powerpoint. Queen Elizabeth II

(2)
I have quickly put together this resource to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The intention of this resource is solely to share and discuss the Queens significant passing with tutor groups using this powerpoint and get students sharing their thoughts and feelings. The powerpoint covers a brief overview of the Queens early life up until her ascension and then looks at some of her successes and achievements as monarch. I have also included a link to CBBC Newsround at the end of the powerpoint as they have currently a video covering the Queens reign and news of her passing. The resource was created with secondary students in mind, however, that is not to say the content is not appropriate for younger audiences - the language may be a little tricky though. I hope this is helpful

This includes assessment for the new style questions 1 - 3 (and Q4 to bring the paper out of 20). 2 interpretations on women are offered and the 3 new style questions to accompany. In addition the paper also incorporates a feedback and review lesson helping students (and teachers convert grades to the new 1 - 9 grades based on percentages. This is the grading system we have created for the use in my history dept. It also offers a conversion back to old levels and old lettered GCSE grades to help students understand their new grades better. Also attached is an alternative assessment I used with my Y9s which asks students to answer Q4 & 5 style questions. The assessment is for students who have been studying Paper 1D AQA new spec - economic boom and the roaring 1920s.
