Theme 2 - The UK economy - performance and policies
This set of resources includes 1x PPTs which can be delivered over 2 lessons and 1x word file of a case study and exam practice question.
This double lesson introduces learners to motivation, we look at both the four theories and the variety of ways to motivate in practice. We start with looking at the four theorists, step by step with discussion, a short case study to apply the knowledge with answers on the powerpoint.
We then go onto look at financial and non financial methods of motivation before looking at a case study of a company that has been voted as one of the best places to work - we investigate what makes it such a good place to work, a 24 mark question based on this with structure guidance and a model answer provided.

In this lesson, learners are introduced to the first psychological explanation of offending - Eysenck’s theory of the criminal personality.
We start by discussing personality in general and whether criminals have certain personality traits before going into the work of Hans Eysenck. We look at the key theory, the complex nature of personality traits, diagram of personality based on the personality questionnaire which students can attempt to identify their own personality. Screen villian task, videos, A02 exam style question with model answer, evaluation task and discussion, PEEL paragraph practice, true or false questions, MCQs and we end with a box plenary.

Psychological explanations - Eysenck’s theory of the criminal personality
In this double lesson, learners build their understanding on attachment types from the strange situation but now the emphasis is on cultural variations on attachments. We start with a funny video and thought provoking questions before looking at what culture is, we then look at the ket study of Ijzendoorn and Kroonenberg (1988). We discuss the aim, procedure, results and conclusions before attempting a research task to find out further research from different cultures.
Followed by a debate task, MCQs, true or false qs, evaluation task, 16 mark exam question practice with indicative points to guide leaners to write a top band response, peer assessment grid and time to improve a paragraph by looking at WWW and EBI, we finish with a box plenary.

In this lesson, learners are introduced to virtual relationships in social media.
We start with a discussion on online dating apps and social media as opposed to traditional face to face meetings, we then look at the benefits and risks of online dating before looking at an experiment, we then look at the effect of the absence of gating from online relationships. Application task, evaluation task and follow-up discussion, video, MCQs, true or false questions, short A02 exam style question, PEEL paragraph practice and we finish with a box plenary.

We start by looking at some famous entrepreneurs to see what the students know about them and which ones excite them by playing a game of guess who (like the traditional game by Hasbro). We then go on to look at intrapreneurship, 2 different case studies, one with a 4 mark question and one with a 12 mark question - both with structure guidance and model answers for students to use when making improvements to their own answers. We look at barriers entrepreneurs face as well their motives before going to look at their characteristics, a number of activities to consolidate this knowledge in an engaging way and a box plenary to finish with.

This double lesson introduces learners to the various shapes and forms businesses come in, we start by looking at what liability is before going through each form of business with examples of their pros and cons. We focus on stock market flotation and look at the process to list an IPO before going on to franchises. A concise case study and 10 mark question on franchises with structure guidance and a concise model answer provided, marking grids also provided to aid students in accurate peer assessments. We look at the other less traditional forms of business such as social enterprise and lifestyle businesses with examples.

We start with looking at the types of borrowing available, to ensure students can remember all the definitions, pros and cons, we have kinaesthetic matching activities to get students active in class (or it could be done on worksheet if it’d suit your class better), answers provided for all activities on the powerpoint. A case study with an exam question, model answers and peer marking grid included for student to peer assess and develop exam skills. This set of resources includes 3x ppt, 7 word files and could be delivered over 5-7 lessons (a lot of calculation so would depend on cohort ability). Learners are introduced to the different types of profit. We start by looking at a step by step animated example of a pizza shop’s income statement. This is followed by an engaging consolidation activity of completing an income statement for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, answers are provided on the board for students to self assess. More consolidation with a question for Arjee Bhargees income statement with answers.
In the second powerpoint, students are introduced to more difficult concepts of the income statement, such as working out detailed cost of sales figures - plenty of practice of this.
In the third powerpoint, we take it a step further and introduce students to prepayments and accruals, which have to be adjusted in their income statements - plenty of practice questions for this.

This set of resources includes 3x PPT, 7x word files and can be delivered over around 3 double lessons. We start by introducing learners to the four profitability ratios, completely broken down, step by step on the powerpoint so it is easy for students to see the logical steps and for the teacher to deliver. Plenty of calculation practice throughout the resource as can be seen on the main thumbnail, answers are provided for all questions on the powerpoint.
In the second powerpoint, we look at the two liquidity ratios, again broken down, examples and practice questions with answers. We do similar activities for the final 3 efficiency ratios in the third powerpoint before finishing with the limitations of using ratio analysis to measure a businesses performance.
