For students of the new Edexcel DT 9-1 Specification (1DT0). A free printable tracker to give you an overview of how you are progressing in your coverage of the Core knowledge. A more detailed breakdown will soon be available as a paid resource.
Keep your students (and fellow teachers) on track with this printable tracker to assess how you are covering the core knowledge of the new Edexcel 9-1 DT syllabus. Also very useful for planning; I print these out large for the DT office wall to give everyone a daily reminder of how much there is to cover!
For teachers and students of the new spec Edexcel GCSE DT 9-1. Use as a planning and assessment tool to cover the specialist knowledge about Timbers (7.1). I let students audit their own knowledge, and I also use it with members of my team so they can assess student knowledge and then plan accordingly. Please see the first sheet for an example of how to best use the resource. This is the printable version of my spreadsheet (also available from my shop), designed especially for easy printing.
Excel spreadsheet for keeping track of your GCSE DT 9-1 NEA pupils’ marks. Conditionally formatted to colour code the entire row based on the overall mark. Excellent for keeping pupils on target and motivated to get to the next grade up. The top band assessment criteria are added as comments to the S1, S2 etc columns, so you can quickly remind yourself and pupils what you are aiming at. Also useful for HoDs to keep track of multiple groups (if you’d like advice on how best to do this, please contact me via email after downloading). I’ve been using these for years (on the old spec) with great success.

For students and teachers of the new AQA 9-1 specification (8552). Use this with students for them to run an AFL audit over their own progress across the three areas of theory assessed by the exam (paper 1). For teachers and HoDs, use the teacher version to audit your own delivery practice. Covers all the content in 3.1 Core, 3.2 Specialist and 3.3 Design Principles.
For teachers and students of the new Edexcel Design and Technology GCSE 9-1; a digital tracker for use in both planning and assessment. I’ve been using this type of resource for years, with great success; it really helps pupils to get an understanding of where they are overall. Share with your students to give them an overview of all of the sections that make up the Core knowledge. For a printable version, please see my other resources.
This is one of my most important and effective resources: getting students to engage properly with (not just read, but actually engage with) the assessment criteria, and to turn their understanding into a to-do list. I get students to highlight all the key words in the top mark criteria, and then write a series of clear, concrete actions (i.e. ‘I am going to photograph my client using their existing bike storage, to find out what problems they have’, instead of ‘investigate target user’) to enable them to progress towards the top grade.
For teachers and students of the new spec Edexcel GCSE DT 9-1. Use as a planning and assessment tool to cover the specialist knowledge about Polymers (Specialist Topic 4). I let students audit their own knowledge, and I also use it with members of my team so they can assess student knowledge and then plan accordingly. Please see the first sheet for an example of how to best use the resource.

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering why I’m using both Edexcel and AQA resources, it’ s because our current year 11 are doing AQA, and then we are changing to Edexcel for current year 10.

Doesn’t require headphones, so can easily be used in class with no disruption or extra resources necessary. Learn how to create shapes, extrude, rotate and and assemble the whole chair. Brilliant for GCSE, as it allows students to create a full model, which they can then generate a large number of useful things from: different colourways, IKEA-style instructions, technical drawings and so on.
