An 8 lesson scheme of work designed to stretch and challenge high ability year 7 students or year 8, with a view to embedding and practising poetry analysis skills for GCSE, Prior knowledge of simile, metaphor and personification is required. Handouts with poems and keys are included, as is an exam template to be used for the final reading exam lesson. Poems include: 'Jabberwocky', 'A Marian Sends a Postcard Home', The Witches' Recipe extract from 'Macbeth', 'Brothers' and 'Mother Diving'.
