Interview with Lady Gaga about school subjects. Students should (i) practise the dialogue as it stands and (ii) improvise changes to the printed dialogue, focussing on the words in bold text.

Nativity dialogue based on words and phrases from the french Christmas carol 'Entre le boeuf et l'ane gris'. Also includes a little bit of practice of the date.

Descriptive text about a jouney in the North of Norway. The text provides a stimulus for structured poetry writing. Students have to list all the descriptive elements of the text and then re-arrange them until they have a poem. Classroom-tested!

5 verbs in the Conditional, set out in a table, so that students can analyse and infer the pattern. Could be printed as hand-out or blown up as a poster.

Dialogue in which the Daleks and the Doctor discuss some of their recent journeys using their best GCSE German verbs of travel in the past tense. Ends with a very cheesy joke.

Interactive drag and drop exercise in which pupils must match the German book titles to the year in which they appeared. Good excuse to get the pupils to practise numbers like neunzehnhundertneunundneunzig. Will work on PC or IW.

Interactive cloze exercise about the military security for London 2012. Will work on PC or IW.

Improbable dialogue in which Fernando Torres consults a fortune-teller about Spain's chances of winning Uefa Euro 2012. Includes a full work-out of the verb werden. (1st, 2nd and 3rd person, singular and plural.)

Text substantially adapted from an article in die Zeit.

PPT for presentation to pupils approaching exams. Based substantially on an article, summarising extensive research conducted by Dr Tom Stafford of Sheffield University. PPT deals with (i) organisation vs cramming (ii) the value of learning from failure (iii) the need to practise (iv) processing information aids memory and (v) rest and sleep. I've added some links to helpful websites.

(The original four texts are from Lernpunkt Deutsch 3, but the two texts featuring authentic German handwriting have proved to be too hard to read for many of my students so I've typed them up!)
