Most primary classrooms have a few maracas in the store room.Be amazed at the different sounds a maraca can make! This resource contains a song, and 2 videos. One video shows how a maraca can be played. The second shows a maestro playing the maracas. Children are encouraged to explore the sounds a maraca can make. They are asked to make a simple presentation with their maraca and join in with a Spanish song. This lesson can be adapted for a current topic. The videos are included in the PPT. The YouTube links are for acknowledgement.

Work on syllables must precede the lesson Display the words. Read them . Which words rhyme? Emphasize that these words must come at the end of the sentence or phrase. Give an example. Children take turns to make up something with few syllables. They take turns with each new word. by the end of a lesson , you have a simple rap.

Very simply designed sheet which pretends to be a letter from the museum asking children to draw a settlement to help them with their records. This idea can be adapted. It also looks good when completed! Good display fodder

This popular music is used for calming and focusing the children at any time of the day. I use it as the children enter Assembly.. The images and music are interspersed with snippets of information to keep the children focused. The music is on a loop. I have cut the full performance . Children have to identify how many words begin with B while you take the register.Afterwards, you reveal the words to match the illustrations and the final count. Differentiation. Children could write the word on their whiteboard as well as count. As the words are revealed, they can check. their words.
