Full SOW for accent and dialect - this would usually take 6-8 weeks, taught 3 hours a week, with assessment time included. Covers all skills and terminology required for students. There is a homework booklet attached too and we usually get students to complete article review homework tasks as additional homework tasks to allow them to recognise the style of writing that they need to adopt for opinion articles (the articles themselves aren’t included but the review sheet is). This SOW covers case studies on a range of accents/dialects such as geordie, Yorkshire, Scottish dialects, Standard English. There are scaffolds to help to support students with writing in all 3 question styles and a range of exemplars to exemplify the appropriate writing style too.

This is an introductory unit for Year 12 English Language, which covers all frameworks such as: graphology, lexis and semantics, grammar and syntax, phonetics and phonology, discourse, pragmatics, as well as an introduction to genre, audience, purpose, representation and context. There are lessons for each framework and a homework booklet which corresponds with the lessons too. Could be used as the first unit in Year 12 and encourages students to see the bigger picture to improve context through some of the text choices.
This is a fully comprehensive unit of work, which should cover approximately 7-8 weeks worth of lessons (based on 5 hours a week). It aims to introduce students to the four theoretical frameworks of the AQA A Level Media Studies course. It also covers a brief introduction to different media forms that the students will need to be familiar with. There are exemplar answers, exam questions and a homework booklet covering a range of iconic media products designed to supplement students’ learning. This unit aims to introduce students to every theory that the exam board requires them to know about and has a specific focus on unseen media language, unseen media theory question and questions 5.1 and 5,2. The aim would be to give students an understanding of the different theories and frameworks prior to studying any products in depth. The selected products are considered iconic too, which will help students to link to wider examples from the media industry.
This resource includes 16 lessons (254 slides) covering in-depth the video game Horizon Forbidden West (new for exams in 2024). It covers all areas of the frameworks including: narrative, genre, representation, audiences, contexts and industry. Each framework has at least one dedicated lesson and there are 10 hwk tasks included which are designed to heighten students’ knowledge of interesting texts related to video games or to help students interleave their paper 1 and paper 2 skills. Each lesson contains a starter activity, and plenary - the resource contains all relevant frameworks and theories identified by AQA in the most recent CSP booklet. There is 120 slides of material, a homework booklet - CSP tracker document, Cornell notes summary sheet and some assessment questions. The ppt also has a screen recording of Zendaya’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter contained within to help combat school web filtering systems of social media sites. The resource could be printed for students to use and it has proven beneficial to those students embarking on their NEA for the first time.
Paper 2 revision pack for A Level English Language. A range of questions focusing on all Paper 2 topics such as: World Englishes, Accent and Dialect, Social Groups, Gender, Occupation, Language Change, Ethnicity. The pack has 43 questions in total including a range of Section A discursive questions, also question 3 and question 4 questions across the range of Paper 2 topics. This is a comprehensive SOW (196 slides - 13 lessons) which covers all the in-depth frameworks for The Responder BBC. It has lessons covering each framework, which include a range of activities relating the the frameworks; there are hwk tasks included too - 9 in total which are designed to either consolidate the lesson, link to a wider contextual news story or another product that could further their understanding of The Responder. Furtermore, there are interleaving hwk tasks which link to other media genres that the students will study - some are included as unseen products.
